Re: Two quick dash cam clips
Does this dashcam make you keep to speed limits or do you allow the 10% plus 2mph rule?
Paul.
Re: Two quick dash cam clips
I've regularly gone past cops on the motorway at 77mph measured on gps (shows just over 80 on the speedo). I wouldn't risk any higher though.

My actual speedo reading at the time was 74mph for the motorway one. It always comes out at 70mph on my Dashcam AND Sat nav unit as GPS is more accurate than speedo.
Similarly, on urban roads, 43mph on my speedo is 40mph on Dashcam and Satnav, although as you can see, I was a little under on the second vid. Mickey was causing a fucking hold up.... cunt! :D
As for keeping to speed limits. To be honest, I pretty much keep to them anyway. I can if I wanted, remove the speed indicator off the video footage via the camera options.
Re: Two quick dash cam clips
Do you get any discount by having a dash cam on your insurance?
I was done for speeding a while back, I was totally in the wrong. I have massively changed my driving habits and despite speeding, insurance has gone down.
It used to be the case for me, I would never have a BBox or DashCam. But pending on rules, I may consider DashCam if favourable to insurance companies.

James
Re: Two quick dash cam clips
Nice work, quick Q, how did you slow the video down for a second before resuming speed?
I find that it does change my driving habits most of the time, but every now and again I do like to give the car a trashing so do exceed speed limits.
That copper must have been doing 100+

Some companies do, some offer the black box as you say, and some offer an App to monitor your driving to get a score which they then quote
Re: Two quick dash cam clips
I've had a few run ins with lorry drivers etc when cycling and pointed at my front light (which isn't actually a camera but looks like it might be) and suggested they apologize or I take it to their transport manager or the police and that has always had the desired effect.
Re: Two quick dash cam clips
I get 10% off insurance with Swift for having a cam. I'll never have a black box in my car just to reduce insurance costs, they can go to fuck with that. I only pay £350/year anyway.
Bigbrand, I have a couple of programs installed on my PC for doing video editing on drone footage.
Cyberlink Powerdirector 15 and Davinci Resolve 12 (The latter is free).
Both offer the option of Timeshift functions where you can slow a particular part of a video down, do freeze frames etc. and do all sorts of other things to them

Re: Two quick dash cam clips
I fucking hate that, pulling out of junctions when it's not clear and at those angles.
Re: Two quick dash cam clips
Ian - your cam looks low - is it on the dash or windscreen m8?
My Viofo 119 is just a tad above the mirror but the 140 lens shows a lot of dashboard reflection in the windscreen.
Just wondering about the (illegal or legal) mounting on the flat part of the dash...
Might need to point the lens a bit more upwards..

Re: Two quick dash cam clips
Nah mine is just below the Rear view mirror mate, centrally mounted. The mount is a ball mount so fully adjustable. I just adjust it accordingly to capture the detail without too much of the bonnet/dash.
Only way of avoiding the reflection is a CPL mate. I used to use Blueskye cams and they started coming with a little 20mm CPL which worked great for removing reflection but really cut the light down at night so pros and cons. Then I switched over to the Nextbase 412. doesn't come with a CPL or anything though. I was getting quite frustrated with the reflection but once I got past the "photographer" bit, I realised that it's all about recording an incident and not creating a movie :D.
Tempted to externally mount the Go Pro at some point :)

Cushty - thanks Ian. :)

Re: Two quick dash cam clips
I have footage of an absolute penis on the M25 yesterday. Quite busy, he undertook me and then tried to pull into a space that wasn't there and there was nowhere for me to move as a car was to my right so I just kept going the same distance from the car in front. Starts giving me shit I'm saying there was nowhere to go fuck you. Came round the back of me as I overtook the car in front as the blocking car had passed. Hands up I did an instantaneous brake test on the cunt before he passed me and swerved towards my lane.
Saved the footage for work anyway. I don't have livery on my car as I'm a bit senior. Liveried vans are a nightmare when dealing with driving complaints.
Anyway if by some chance the bearded cunt is on here please send me your details so I can shoe the fuck out of you.
