Which is the best VPN that you are useing
Finally looking into getting a VPN service for my kodi box/PC. I have done a few browsers looking for the top picks for 2017 and Express VPN seems to be the clear winner on 5 of the sites I went to. I just need to know has anyone used them or used others that are good or bad and should stay away from. Express do a 3 year deal for $2.75 a month.

I've used private internet access for 3 years, never had issues with speed, servers in every continent and major country decent android app, can easily be configured with openvpn.
Think it's was about 25per year last year, but I normally wait for the offers they email out just before your subscription expires.

Depends if you're looking for top security, price, servers etc. I like PIA as it's one of the largest with the most servers, apps and types of VPN supported but there are some questions over the jurisdiction it resides in.
I found this site to be the best at comparing:

I use PIA. Can't fault it. Get around 10mb drop for streaming.

Heard PIA is about the best. I have a sub from OkayFreedom. The offered it up cheap after the 1 year trial. It’s restricted to a single platform but does what I need on my torrent box and the speeds were good.
Ive also got that Windscribe as a freebie from here somewhere. It’s a bit shit, but more useability options and speeds/servers can be limited. But for free it’s fine.

Re: Which is the best VPN that you are useing
well I'm on a 7 day trial with Nord, if I stay then itll cost me just over £2 a month so cant really go wrong for the next 3 years (£77) total spend
Kodi box is kicking out 40 meg down and 18 up on a wired connection which is more than enough for what I need
PC is kicking out 71 meg down and 18 up on a wired connection to the same server as the kodi box.
DF pages are if I have to be honest cant really tell the difference when vpn is running or turned off.
Re: Which is the best VPN that you are useing
From the same list Evilsatan posted I chose BolehVPN as it ticked the most boxes for security and being in a good jurisdiction for not disclosing any of your details.
Had no issues and fast for me. They do a free trial so you can try em out for a week I think.
Re: Which is the best VPN that you are useing
I've been using nord for about 5 months now, dunno what sort of speeds I'm getting because I have the openvpn config file loaded onto my portable router just for when I'm watching streams, and it works ok for that.
Re: Which is the best VPN that you are useing
I can't help thinking VPN's are just a switch of ISP with a different promise / claim on how they treat and record data passing through their network.
To my mind its all bollocks. The things you do online are recorded no matter how you get from one ip to another. All you can do is muddy the waters if that's your intention.
The only real use I had of a VPN is a territorial IP when abroad, for example Iplayer, tvcatchup but with unlimited roaming mobile data a VPN isn't necessary as your assigned a UK IP address from your mobile provider wherever you are roaming in a European zone anyway.
Re: Which is the best VPN that you are useing
I guess it depends on why you need one. I want one for streaming and u torrent, however if I didn't have one I'm pretty sure I'm small fry to the authorities.
If you're a paedophile looking for anonymity, then I sincerely hope vpns allow you to get caught.

As JonEP said nothing is a certain with the VPN's.
I mean if some heavy weight government is breathing down their necks demanding data, will these companies really stand up to them and say well you haven't got jurisdiction Mr Government or will they sing like a Canary ?
TOR is the only truly anonymous way .
Re: Which is the best VPN that you are useing
PIA state they keep no legs, and they testified to that in court, on an FBI case.
https://torrentfreak.com/vpn-provide...i-case-160312/
Interestingly they do disclose how the account was paid for, thus creating a potential link.
Quote:
“A subpoena was sent to London Trust Media and the only information they could provide is that the cluster of IP addresses being used was from the east coast of the United States,” the FBI’s complaint reads.
Quote:
“However, London Trust did provide that they accept payment for their services through credit card with a vendor company of Stripe and/or Amazon. They also accept forms of payment online through PayPal, Bitpay, Bit Coin, Cash You, Ripple, Ok Pay, and Pay Garden.”
Re: Which is the best VPN that you are useing
Still use PIA for VPN - client works well on android based products if running Kodi :)
Re: Which is the best VPN that you are useing
Can't knock PIA, using it across my Laptop, via Chrome, Desktop for those VLC IPTVs and on the firestick!
Re: Which is the best VPN that you are useing
I had been using IPVanish but found it painfully slow ove the last few months - when I was in China last month I signed up for ExpressVPN as it's one of the few that claim to always work out there with dedicated servers in several countries providing access specifically from China and been very impressed with it so far, seems much faster although I haven't done any benchmarking tests. It certainly doesn't get anywhere near as many disconnects and if it does drop out then 9 times out of 10 it will reconnect automatically.
I'm certainly going to ditch IPV so will look at PIA too before making a final decision.
Re: Which is the best VPN that you are useing
Not had one discon with nord. works flawlessly on pc/android. ill be trying it in Europe in May, getting over 70 megs download speed (according to speed test) now on anonymous IP settings wizard

I noticed the same and moved over to Digibit (?2pm) and haven't noticed any considerable drop in speed. Easy enough to install on Firebox as well.

Is there a blip on this page? I can't seem to change to the pound sign in the brackets! It looks okay in the editing page.
