Simple image editing software needed

I'm looking for something to do basic functions, cropping, contrast/brightness, resizing/rotating, that's about it.

Windows photo viewer used to be ideal for this but they removed the editing functions from windows 7 onwards.

I use windows picture viewer for rotate, mspaint for crop and resize, then paint shop pro for anything else.

photoshop portable. Lots of virus ones about but I have clean version if needed.

There's a simple prog I have on android called snapseed, easy to use and I think its available on PC too.

Since i got a chromebook i have used this too as it is all online and requires no software to be installed.. works really well.

If you like/use Snapseed as much as I do, check out Pixlr at the above link. Very nice app.

I can swear by GIMP, lots of youtube tutorials as well

google picasa its free, i use microsoft picture it most of the time.

been using irfanview for years. freeware and small install

The GIMP. Once you get your head around the interface is superb.
Easy to do the simple stuff, but is capable of doing so much more. Stacks of plugins available and loads of online help / howto's

GIMP takes ages to load. Irfanview is looking the best so far.

Cannot comment on how long it takes to load under Windows, as I won't use that shit. Have no issues with it on any of my Linux machines though.

Paintshop pro is easy to use. although i now got the x5 or whatever it is. this seems over complicated

Another Gimp user here as well and not in that sense. Doesnt take anytime to load on my spare machine either and only runs 2GB and a couple of Db's
