xbox site
Hi,
i've just began designing a website for all things xbox related such as cheats, news .........
I havent started on the content yet its just at the design stage at the moment. The address is http://www.xboxinfo.co.uk
Please tell me what you think of the design and navugation also ways in which I could improve the site.
thanks,

Looks kool, how do u create the navigation without a frame if u know wat i mean. (Everytime u click on a link the page changes but the navigation shows up with it.) In a framed site you would obviously put the navigation in a separate frame and the content in the main frame but here the navigation shows up on every page. does that mean you hav to duplicate the navigation page for each page?
EM.
-
Yes mate the navigation page is duplicated for each page, I used Adobe Photoshop for the graphics and then put it into dreamweaver and made it a template so for every new page i want it automatically loads the navigation and the surroundings leaving me with just the content to change.
-
kool. thnx for clearin dat up :)
EM.
-
no worries.
anybody got any comments about my site????
-
just made a few minor changes to the design and added a bit of content, please tell me what you think because if it looks crap i would rather know now so it would be easier to change than later on.
Thanks,
mark

to be honest, i'm not feeling it, the greens too pale, the text has no style, the counter looks really out of place, the xbox top left is really grainy and the image in the middle are taking up 1/3 of the space your content should be filling.
if you have only done a few sites or less you've done pretty well, but if this is like your 20th site you really should be doing better. your navigation in a decent place, but like i said, im not feeling it, sorry.
don't let my comments put you off though, i can see theres more to come from you.
-
thanks for your comments xdam, just to let you know its my first site which i have ever done myself. Could you please explain more on your comment "the xbox top left is really grainy"?
Also what else would you recommend I doing to the site e.g. should i make the green darker?
Thanks,
Mark

well you did a great job for your first website, you should of seen my first few goes, damn i sucked. when i say its grainny i mean its not a clean cut image at all.
the xbox doesnt have any white on it, so if your going for an xbox feel your colours should be black/green.
-
thanks again i'll have ago at changing the colours tonight.
-
i've gone for the black/green look, please let me know what you guys think.
i've left the old design up so you can compare. The new one is at:
http://www.xboxinfo.co.uk/ver2/
which design is better and what else would you change?
Thanks,

the colours are much better in my opinion, perhaps the box at the top left needs sorting though - inda blury isnt it? the popup box when you enter the page isnt a good thing to have, i realise its probably just there while your testing.
try setting some margins of 0 so your images line up to the browser at the top and on the left, if you dont know how to do that i will let you know.

site looks nice m8!!
although one bit of constructive critism:
try and get away from using time new roman typeface as it makes the site look much more basic than it real is. experiment with verdana or even ariel as i think it could make the site much more proffesional.
just my opinion

check my post about "Font Advice" in Web Graphics & Site Design for a bit of "critisism"
hold on ill get you the link...........
