Mega Drive II mod
This saturday, I picked up two Mega Drive II's for under 10 quid each, and I was wondering if anyone had some info on how to mod a Mega Drive II for import games? I find the info on GamesX.com to be a little scarce, as I haven't modified any consoles before.... It just sounds a bit easier than so many of the other mods, and I thought this would be a good place to start...
Thanks in advance!

The main way they stopped people from playing import games was by haveing different shape cartridges. The Jap games were rounded and would not fit in to the UK one. You can do one of three things.
1) Mod the top of the case where the cartridges go so the Jap ones fit in.
2) Open up the megadrive and play it like that :D
3) or you can get an adapter, im sure there was one of these out.
I just remembered modding your case worked for megadrive 1 so not too sure about it working for no. II. Check out www.lik-sang.com they might have the adaptor

US games fit just fine.... I've heard no mention of case modding an MD before this.
I know about the adapters, they're all over eBay, but I want to mod it myself, as it CAN be done, according to GamesX.com, my problem is that the info on that page is a bit to scarce for me!

I got an adaptor for mine, bit of a result as it cost me a fiver and came with jap shadow dancer :D

Adaptor's isn't the answer, I need a 50/60Hz switch as well!

nice link Kjun :) Just been looking thru the old SNES/Super Famicom titles ..... think it's time to get my Super Famicom and Double Pro Fighter out !
I might even buy myself a cheap Sega Megadrive cos I can use the same Double Pro Fighter on it ! :D

Thanks for the help guys, I nearly broke one of the machines trying to mod it :p: Got a friend that'll save it for me and fit the 50/60Hz switch, and then I found a cheap converter on eBay, so I guess I'm set :)
