Looking to buy a wii.....but haven't a clue
Looking to buy a wii for me and the missus to do a bit of regular exercise. Never owned one so haven't a clue what I need or idea of costs
Need 2 controllers etc...
Also can these things be flashed so they can play downloaded games etc?
Thanks all and hope you all had a merry Xmas:-)

Yes they can be "altered" to play anything you throw at them. I got one off a member here a few years back
there ok but the family soon lost interest with them.
Re: Looking to buy a wii.....but haven't a clue
They seem to go on FB groups for around the £25 mark and often include a couple of controllers.
Not dusted mine off for a while but SD card is used to "modify" it to play all. Then attach either USB dongle or USB-HDD and store all games on this then launch games via USB loader menu.
She will want a Wii - Board. Got this off FB for another tenner.
Games can be downloaded as expected.

What's the difference between a wii and a wii u?

Wii U is the newer one and will cost a lot more. Don't think it is backwards compatible but may be corrected on that.
imho the Wii U was shit unless you are into the Nintendo only stuff like Zelda and Mario which I am not.
For keep fit stuff for the Mrs I would stick to the Wii classic not the U imho
Re: Looking to buy a wii.....but haven't a clue
wii u is fully compatible with all wii software and controllers and can still be modified for wii and wiki content very easily
Re: Looking to buy a wii.....but haven't a clue
I can let you have a wii for free - (postage) - I have one in the cupboard with all the cables and shit - think I have the fit board thing too. maybe even some games - maybe just lego indianna jones or whatever it was to mod it ;)
Let me know I will weigh it all up and let you know a price for postage only unless you fancy a trip down to pick it up?

No worries - it is set to languish in cupboard forever.
