Final Nintendo NX Design Leaked?
Please note these are all rumours until Nintendo release the details
There has been alot of fake Nintendo NX designs already, with some so clever they were produced using a 3D Printer to make it looking totally real, now we have new one, that is being debated right now, if it is real or not from GuyTheFighter that also tweeted along with the photo showing what looks like a controller device that expands to contain a screen. he also gave a NX release date and yen price for it.
Attachment 30525
Here is a comment from one of the admins at MaxConsole (and source for the original article)
"Sadly, after much discussion with various Nintendo insiders and developers, the photo is basically what the NX will be like when it ships.
The 6.2" touch-screen, has on it two micro-usb ports, one on each side, that is what the left and right halves of the split controller plug into.
On the back, you can't see from this photo, is micro-hdmi port, and charger port, and accessory port (mic/camera), and cartridge slot is little below the back at an angle since the device is very thick, between 14mm to 23mm in thickness like rumored earlier.
When you unplug the two halves of the controller, you can then plug them into each other, directly, like shown on the left bottom part of picture, or with a empty spacer for a more easier to handle controller as shown on the right bottom part of the above leaked photo.
Then the detached 6.2" touch-screen can then be plugged into a docking station for angled viewing, charging, and direct hdmi connection.
Price is right also, around $349 to $379 launch price in the USA, a bit higher in Japan.
Release date is right also."
Personally I think its a very cool idea but not sure if I want another tablet !
Even on the WiiU i tend to use the Pro Controller where possible but sadly not all games support it!

Re: Final Nintendo NX Design Leaked?
That looks brilliant.
There was a similar android tablet/gamepad type thing a few years ago, but it didn't work as it was too bulky and slow. Hopefully Nintendo will make this work though.
The primary issue in my eyes is that this should cost £150. £300 is far too much.

Re: Final Nintendo NX Design Leaked?
The Wii, I got it, I understood why Nintendo were doing what they were doing and I was so excited about it. The same to a lesser extent with the WiiU but it was clear to why the design was as it was.
This, I have no idea.
Sadly, people are happy stabbing their smartphones with their fat fingers for their gameplay these days, is this a direct result of trying to step into that market while retaining the game console feel?
With Mario on IOS and Pokemon Go having immense success on Android and IOS, where the hell are Nintendo going right now?

Re: Final Nintendo NX Design Leaked?
This it looks shit, as 909 said its not innovative which Nintendo usually are.
Its a shame as they seem to have lost their way in the last few years, and I can see them going the way of SEGA.

Re: Final Nintendo NX Design Leaked?
No interest in handheld or mobile gaming. To me this looks like a bag of wank. I wont be purchasing.
As above I thought the Wii was a good idea and although I got bored in a matter of days the rest of the family loved it.
Cant see anyone being interested in this in my family.

Re: Final Nintendo NX Design Leaked?
So I take it they will discontinue the ds now
i can see the idea but , meh a tablet with a stick on controller .

I personally cant see them dropping the DS anytime soon, it practically prints money
to me the controller just looks like a posh version of this:

Re: Final Nintendo NX Design Leaked?
If we can Shoehorn Linux on to it, then I'll be able to run it up the flagpole and push the button on that

Re: Final Nintendo NX Design Leaked?
I think it's nonsense. I'll be surprised if this is what they release.

Re: Final Nintendo NX Design Leaked?
I'm sure I read somwere that the idea was to combine the two Eco systems ,
the cart instead of the disk will be to help battery life .
if they have zelda running on both so quick wiiu and nx , but arm would seam the sensible option ..

Re: Final Nintendo NX Design Leaked?
Well I'm out if that's what it is. Was hoping for something a bit more special but this looks awful. Will wait for an official Nintendo announcement I think.

Re: Final Nintendo NX Design Leaked?
I can't see it. It's like a mechano Wii-U.
Lets hope this rumour is just that and there's no substance to it.

Seems to be relying on a guys tweet who has 3,000 followers, not being bitchy but Maxconsole will post any old shit so would wait for a more reliable source.

Re: Final Nintendo NX Design Leaked?
Lol, just me that likes it then :D
The pics do look a bit 'manufactured', so i wouldn't be surprised if they're fake.

Re: Final Nintendo NX Design Leaked?
Nintendo have stated that this will co-exist with the DS line (although they said the same thing about the GBA when the DS was announced)
I originally thought this had potential as a bridge between the DS and a home console, something that could play actual 3DS (or whatever the new handheld would be) carts in different modes. A single screen mode and a TV + Tablet mode almost mimicking the 3DS but then its hard to see how they'll differentiate between the systems if they're all so intertwined. It seems nintendo want to connect their key market of the handheld with their flailing market of the home console.
To be honest, predictions about Nintendo consoles have always been miles off the mark, so lets hope the same case applies here, or there's just something we're not getting.

Out of Sony, Microsoft And Nintendo it's Nintendo that have always been true innovators and big risk takers, sometimes with success and other times they have failed but they have never played it safe so I would expect far more than this.

I would agree for the most part but thought the WiiU was far from innovative unless I didn't give it chance.

I love the Wii U - certainly gets more use than the PS4. Nothing truely "innovative" but good non the less.

It in console terms pretty much bombed but I think it showed a lot of innovation such as Wii U GamePad, which features an embedded touchscreen don't think that had been tried before and again a lot of the innovation copied or recreated in a different form by both Sony and Microsoft.
-
Re: Final Nintendo NX Design Leaked?
When it comes to innovation I really want to see the HoloLens in the real world.
So many potential applications not just gaming. Again it could bomb... BUT it really could succeed . Hope they don't let us down.

Re: Final Nintendo NX Design Leaked?
The WiiU was innovative, especially when you compare it to the PS2 to 3 to 4 but innovation sadly doesn't guarantee success. The WiiU had so many problems and while the Wii had a clear target, the WiiU was thrown out to make its own way it seemed and it only made it as far as the nearest pub.
I still have some faith in Nintendo, it's almost in my DNA to do so and I am sure there will be something great about the next console that will make me want to buy it.
This generation is the first generation since the NES where I haven't bought a home console and out of the 3, I still want to get a WiiU for MarioMaker.

Re: Final Nintendo NX Design Leaked?
Are we talking innovation or experimentation. The Wii captivated the masses because of the wiimotes - nothing more. The WiiU is essentially the same console as the Wii with more power and a funky controller that works on some games as a second screen. I haven't plugged my WiiU in for well over a year now and even when I did play on it the only game that got a look in was Mario Kart which is a) fricking awesome and b) the only reason I bought the console.
I also own a DS Lite and a 3DS - both of these still get used quite a lot. Maybe mobile gaming is the way forward for Nintendo before they spank too much on R&D for consoles that are only as powerful as the last generation but priced like current generation.

Re: Final Nintendo NX Design Leaked?
Yeah i have to say that I think the WiiU has some great games but I do have some problems with it.
Cons:
- The interface is shit, no ifs no buts its just plain shit
- The online experience is a joke, the Wii was bad and the WiiU is a step up but Nintendo really need to get a good online service
- I dont like the WiiU gamepad for standard games (I use the Pro controller where possible) but for something like Mario Maker its awesome!
- AmiiBo's - Got the Mrs the animal crossing Wii U game and a load of the AmiiBo's but didnt realise the game is just a board game using your AmiiBos - very shit but good for kids i suppose
Pros:
- The games, oh the games!:
-- New Super Mario U
-- Mario 3D World
-- Yoshi's Woolly World (seriously one of the most fun games I have ever played)
-- Funky Barn (bought this for my 6 year old nephew and started playing it when I had a hangover - addictive!!!)
-- Super Mario Maker (i mean come on, who didnt want to make their own levels when they were younger!)
-- Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
-- Mario Kart 8 (enough said!)
-- Mario Party 10
I will say that I love my Xbox One but find myself playing the remake games mostly (Resident Evil stuff and 360 stuff like Red Dead Redemption) but if I just want to sit down and play something really fun then I turn to the Wii U every time.

Re: Final Nintendo NX Design Leaked?
From what I read above it boils down to Mario & Donkey Kong and if you don't like them then the console is shit .
Have I got that right?
-
Re: Final Nintendo NX Design Leaked?
I'd add Zelda to the mix, probably not far off mate.

Re: Final Nintendo NX Design Leaked?
Well this is the latest rumour regarding the leak from a Foxcon employee as they as supposedly starting production of the units source
Not long after it was reported that Foxconn Electronics has started trialling Nintendo NX production, it appears that an employee that works for the Taiwanese electronics manufacturer has sketched the separate components that make the dedicated game platform.
The appearance echoes the rumours that have been reported over the past months, namely around the concept being centred upon a portable console with detachable controllers. The result is a console and handheld hybrid, which separates itself with three parts: a dock; a performance module; and a handheld.
The dock reportedly contains a hard disk drive, cartridge slot, numerous interfaces, and supports TV output. Whereas the performance module is a portable device that provides a power supply, as well as containing a lithium-ion battery, CPU and GPU elements, and supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and wired connections.
The handheld is a 6-inch 720p screen with a low thermal design power (TDP) system on a chip (SoC), which lends enough power to perform basic operations with lower quality graphics when the performance module isn’t connected. It can provide “console-level graphics” when the performance module is connected, which is why the module is similarly portable as it has its own battery.
When docked, the system will act like any other console but will allow the handheld to be designated as the primary display. Interestingly, the sketch references that there is two system on a chip candidates for the console, in either Nvidia’s Tegra chip with Pascal architecture or AMD’s Radeon R9 series.
As there is now way to confirm the sketch’s legitimacy until Nintendo choose to reveal the console, we’d recommend speculating over this until we learn more concrete information.
