What a silly cow. I can’t honestly say I have much sympathy but I bet pressure from the UK gets her released...
She already admitted the charge then wanted to change her plea. She maybe naive and stupid, but that’s no defence for breaking the law of a country known for having a mental legal system.
Did it for her boyfriend who had back pain? Why doesn’t the prick just go to a doctor. Importing controlled drugs into a country and claiming stupidity deserves all it gets...

Re: Briton jailed in Egypt on drug charges
I have no idea why this case had been given so much sympathetic coverage.
Lets forget Egypt and their legal system for a minute. Tramadol is an opiate and is illegal to possess in the UK without the relevant prescription. Distribute this to your friends even for no profit/cost in the UK could get yourself up to 14 years behind.
From what I gather the pills weren't even prescribed to her but were prescribed to a friend of hers. Surely the fact she couldn't buy them over the counter should have been enough for her to figure it out. Then when unable to get over the counter, the next logical step would have been to go to doctor who would have explained they could not prescribe pills for someone abroad without a consultation, and I'm guessing doctor would have mentioned trying to do this would be illegal.
Now everyone knows smuggling illegal drugs carries typically heavy penalties as a deterrent (ranging up to death), and some countries have more "developed" legal systems than others.
Surely the news articles should all be banging on about how lucky she was that the Egyptian legal system gave her a very lenient sentence?
Re: Briton jailed in Egypt on drug charges
Completely agree with the above, she actually got a pretty lenient sentence considering that an Egyptian may have got life or even the death sentence.
Re: Briton jailed in Egypt on drug charges
Very valid point about them being script only pills. Bet that will be brushed over as well...

Not forgetting she had about 300 of the fuckers, well them and Naproxyn. When I had a spinal tumour, I was taking about 3-4 a night (Which is too many). That works out that she was carrying 2-3 months' supply.
Re: Briton jailed in Egypt on drug charges
Totally agree with Over Carl. I was having a discussion about this yesterday and a mate saying 'how terrible'. Then after I told her that what she did would be illegal here and she could've got 10+ years she changed her attitude towards her right away calling her a stupid tart.

It's a bit far fetched to suggest you would get 10 years hear for 300 tramadol don't you think?

I suppose it's the same as 25 years in Egypt

Sorry mate ,maybe having a slow day , but I don't follow .
I know a boy that got 5 year and he had about 100k worth of coke. No doubt she's an idiot but get real ,there is no way she should be locked up for 3 years

Friend of mine got 3 years 3 months for 105 ecstasy tablets over here. Court even accepted it was only social supply from a student to other students but that's what my mate got.
Using that as a comparison I am baffled a person got a lower sentence for being caught exporting/importing nearly 300 smack tablets (especially considering it appears she choose to do this of her own free will and for example wasn't put under duress to smuggle them).
Re: Briton jailed in Egypt on drug charges
I think tramadol is more akin to codeine than smack , and her potential to make any profit or harm anyone from it was nil . Just seems a bit harsh to me .
Re: Briton jailed in Egypt on drug charges
I didn't think it was harsh and don't really think it can be considered harsh if it is on a par with sentences given out to similar crimes there under Egyptian legislation, arguing the law is pointless as it's their law, people in Saudi Arabia get long sentences when caught smuggling alcohol, some countries have the death sentence for drug smuggling. You can give an opinion on another countries laws absolutely but if you go to that country and break that law you will be screwed, I have little doubt something will happen to either reduce it or she will be allowed back to finish it here being female and something they are not fighting for equality in as I doubt the story would have even made national news if it was a man.

Her husband waited in the car park for over 5 hours, why wasn’t he waiting at arrivals? He knew what she was doing was illegal and so did she.
