Claranews really slow
Anyone else having trouble with really crap speeds off claranews?
For about the past 2 weeks I've been lucky if I download at over 15k/sec. At the minute I'm not getting over 7k/sec retrieving headers which means it'll take me forever to update binary groups.
Cheers.

hmm, haven't really used news stuff in the past couple of weeks as Ive been at work all the time but I'm donwloading headers now and it's dog****.
i'm using clara as my isp so they should have sufficient bandwidth and it's not contention as I can kick another d/l off and it maxes my connection out..
i've also had a quick look in the support newsgroup and theres nothing about it running slow - weird.
-
It seems to be going a bit faster now, about 20k/sec. Still not going anywhere near as fast as it did before.
I thought it was my connection since it was running really slow yesterday and running the speed tests i get about half what i should be getting.
-
it's maxing out my connection again here now - 60KB/s
-
from what i have seen there cap limit it set to 600KBs not 60Kbs
-
I use claranews and have noticed the slowdown but im using agent and it dosent show dowload speeds.

I had a few problems getting new headers last night. Although before that I managed to download over 1 gig of data at my max data rate.
I tried to update headers this morning and it wasn't having any of it.
Is this a regular thing with this service or does it tend to be good? The reason I ask is because I just forked out 50 quid for the news 20 package. I hope I haven't made a mistake.

At around 1.35 this morning the news entire news service
dropped off the network. We do not yet know the cause of the
problem but an engineer is on his way to telehouse to
investigate.
This problem is unrelated to the work carried out on the
authentication database which was successfully completed
at 1.05am.
