R4ds or Acekard

Hi all

just purchased a Nintendo ds lite and was wondering which is the best gizmo for downloads
ie the r4ds or the acekard?

I would go for the R4, but they dont make them any more and are clones. The latest clone i got though worked perfectly and was easy to update thru their webpages, it will also take 8 gig mem cards

Theres plenty of threads here about which is best ,have a peek matey

much the same really, the Acekard has better features in my option but the R4 has a neater menu system. The Acekard probably has better support too.

Acekard all the way... and with the AIO firmware you can't go wrong.

Hi Bing92, I'm also a midlander, (wolvo)

I have bought and sold over 400 R4 carts without 1 single problem.
You can still get genuine Rev 2 R4 carts (volumerate sell them but post cost are high if you dont buy many)
Get yourself off to Cocks Moor Woods Leisure Centre next sunday for the PC market and you will pick one up there.

If you can't get your hands on one, let me know and i'll sort you one out when I get my next delivery.

As for which is the best cart, well its a fanboy minefield.

My mum has a Super card and I hate the menu.
Mate has a TT card and I hate the menu and build quality.

No game to date has failed to play on ORIGINAL R4 cards running the v1.18 firmware
(although I have had to patch the arm7.bin file on 3 games so far.....out of 600 and its dead easy)

I might be back in touch as i wouldn't know what is a genuine one or a copy!

Without opening up the R4 and looking closely at the hardware you wont ever be sure, but all the clone cards do have subtle differences in the packaging and wording.

I have had a few not play on an original R4 card. I got it from cheapmod when they first came out and have had a few more off dealextreme. I tried that new clone wars game which got as far as the start game menu then crashes. What's this you mention about patching?

I've just brought a few acekards to give them a go

You have to use a utility to unpack the rom, replace the arm7.bin file with a working one.
