This is how karma works 20/10/07
Found a few bits of info on my travels, and thought I'd post them following all the recent karma talk
For karma dots you need these points (total is broken down in user cp):

If you have negative points, then you have red dots, which work the same way as above, but backwards. I'm not too sure at what value these start though, as there is a single grey dot inbetween the red and green. Grey may signify
-20 to -1, or something like that, don't know
The amount of karma points a user receives when you give them positive karma, is based on your post count, length of membership, and your own karma level. I think it is 1 point of karma power for each 100 posts, 1 point per year of membership, and 1 point per karma dot that you have. So my karma power is about 21:
1500+ posts = 15 points
6 karma dots = 6 points
0 whole years membership = 0 points
total = 21 points
> and that is the number of points a user would receive if I gave them positive karma
If you give negative karma, the points are deducted from the person you're giving it to, but the points are only half that of your normal (positive) karma power.
Finally, if you receive positive karma, it is green. Negative karma is red, and neutral karma is grey - this is when the person awarding the karma has no karma power i.e. has overall negative/neutral karma themselves. If at any point a users karma level is neutral or negative, their karma power becomes 0.....even if they have 50 million posts
Some of DFs settings may well be different to this, so please correct me if any bits are wrong.
The question really is, how the fcuk did WTD get to here: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...perino/WTD.jpg ?????
ah yes...that would be his.......'contributions' to the VIP section ;)

Re: This is how karma works
When you made your first post in the introduce yourself section you would have seen the sticky called DF rules. Try there for guidance to see if there is anything that might help.
Have you tried EVERY single forum? Are your posts decent contributions or are they one-word answers that add nothing?
If you have made a dozen or so good posts and still can't access anything then come back, but please post in the right section. This one is not it, btw.
Re: This is how karma works

May I draw your attention to the first post in this thread. Ahem.:nowords:
Re: This is how karma works
for what its worth the base karma level on df is 10 points, thats what you start with and is considered neutral (0 - 10 points) which is grey.
mods have slightly increased karma power at their base level and admin have more still, admin also have the power to make "minor";) adjustments to other members karma settings if it is deemed appropriate, for example abusing the karma system (wizer, diablos) or pissing off admin (cueball)
