pet insurance advice please
Hi Guys
So we have our puppy. brilliant little thing, but need pet insurance.
I did a compare the market search and pet plan came out, but to be honest I have no idea what I need to include in a pet policy as the last time I had a dog was when I was 10. 30 years ago..
So some help if you can on what I need would be great.
she is 15weeks old now.
steiff.
Re: pet insurance advice please
PetPlan best of the bunch, particularly when insuring a previously uninsured puppy/kitten.

IMO make sure go for policy where a condition does not expire or costs for it during life of dog, Eg claim for same condition more than once in that year or lifetime with a decent level of cover for a dog probably pay around £15 a month
Both mine are with m&s premier cover at minute as there level of cover was highest for similar amount of money as others
similar plan with kennel club was £45!
£7k limit per condition with no limit of claims in that year up to the £7k

Re: pet insurance advice please
I went with Animal Friends after hearing good things from other people. Had to claim a couple of weeks ago and its been smooth and painless, money straight into the account no problems.
On a rolling contract you get no renewal hikes either.

Just to add certain breeds are a lot more susceptible to problems than
others so it's do your homework on that also
Luckily both my dogs are fairly robust with no real issue in both breeds other than idiot owners !
Woman I used to work with had King Charles spaniel and they get lots of problems with head size for neck strength etc and cost her £2k for operation and treatment on most lower policys limit is less than that and couldn't claim again for treatment until following year or not a at all :/
Re: pet insurance advice please
Spot on mobileman do your homework about your bread and try to match to a policy but mine (scotties) are with pet plan 17 quid a month for both touch wood not had to use it yet
Re: pet insurance advice please
I know this is old but wanted to add some information. I actually talked to my vet and found they took ASPCA insurance directly. Meaning I didn't need to pay upfront which was amazing.

I'm with Animal Friends too.. I too had heard good things about them..
There are always occasions when they won't cover IE teeth extractions but it's good to know it's there for major surgery
It's something I've kept up for most of my Yorkies 12 years life
