Toysrus has a 'Venturer' dvd player with the surround sound system for under 200 hundred I think. Ne1 no if they stil sell it and if its ne good?

Am I right in thinking that actual sound quality as long as u aint talkin headphones style is not that relevant becuz the main effect is actually having six speakers around you?

I am not sure If they still do the venturer player - The sound quality obviously depends largely on the quality of the speakers that you are using - To get the full "Cinema" sound effect you need a player with Dolby 5.1 sound and a matching hi-fi setup - either with a separate av reciever and the other speakers (Front left and right, Centre, and rear left and right) Or you can buy a system with a subwoofer and satelite Speakers.
As long as the system has dolby 5.1 Decoder written all over it you will be OK - Although you can go out and spend a load of money and get yourself a 6.1 setup - which gives you the extra rear centre speaker - though this is still quite a new technology and not a huge amount of dvds are recorded with these setups in mind
Richer sounds do a few good deals on complete systems but there are so many different deals it all comes down to choice

As posted in another thread on the same subject - Richer Sounds are doing a cheap player with Dolby sound - But be quick - they are gonna sell out pretty quickly. If they are all gone I would go for the arianet player mentioned in the thread
You seem to be able to get cheap £69.99 DVD players everywhere now.
Asda do one, as do Argos (or should that be Argous!). The one from Argos is an Alba model and has an LCD display on the front - a feature lacking it would appear on most of these £69.99 players plus it actually looks good (yeah I know, with an Alba badge on the front too!!).

Looks like it is multi-region out of the box, no macro disable though. It can also play VCD/SVCD with a bit of coaxing.
