Ideas for Project - Mini PC etc

NERD ALERT

After a recent Hardware failure I needed to order a couple of new parts and decided at the same time to upgrade my sons PC.

So I am left with this: Mini Mobo

Basically a basic powered Gigabyte Mobo with inbuilt AMD APU and GPU and I have 4GB of DDR3 for it which I could obviously upgrade.
Nothing special granted but was good enough for him to play Minecraft etc

Now fancy using it for some project, some media thing to sit behind the Telly ? Some old Retro gaming thing?? Not sure!

Help me out :-)

It has no PCI x16 etc just the ol' fashioned traditional PCI slot circa 90's (even though it is only 3/4 years old)

Think it can handle 16GB DDR3 max. (Checked Yes it can)
Nice and small.

What geek fest can I have with it ??

How about a NAS drive to backup/Media storage your home PC's? Bung it in a cheap case with enough slots for 4 HDDs and leave connected somewhere out the way.

Home automation, get a touch screen and chassis and control your lights etc

i would go with a NAS myself

Yep NAS and stick plex server on it and play your media anywhere ;)

I know NAS seems like the obvious choice I just felt it wasn't exciting enough lol

Home automation would be nice but we are looking to move within the next 12 months so wont bother with that idea.

get a case
whack a few 10TB hard drives in it
load it with the dirtiest skankiest porn you can find (im sure Det can help you with that)
Install Plex
Launch your own Plex Porn server
Die of wanking
