A pal had his website built and took around 6 months - it was done in the fellas spare time and cost just a measly £20.
I think it's really good and professional.
What program was used? Anyone know?
Probably the same as what I use for clients: Joomla.

Actually, scrub that. He's used the easier 'Wordpress' CMS solution.

Personaly I don't see what's wrong with wordpress.
i use it myself and choose to use for ease over anything else as it's quick and simple.
If you want a professional site then fair enough, but for personal and sites that are starting out why bother with anything else.

Yes and they are rubbish for SEO
Wordpress are ok if you are not worried about security. It is VERY shit at being secure.
