Re: Newcastle Vipers V Sheffield Steelers *Ice Hockey*
i went to watch the gaints a couple of weeks ago got the tickets free in work and ive got to say i loved it im actually gona try a go more often
Re: Newcastle Vipers V Sheffield Steelers *Ice Hockey*
Glad you enjoyed it mate. probaly one of the most underrated sports in the UK at the moment. Sports England won't pump any money into hockey though ie: Building of rinks etc, same for local councils, which is a shame as there are many teams out there fighting for ice time. If hockey was better advertised and given more money along with other things, Team GB could possibly be in with a chance to play in the Vancouver Winter Olympics in 2010. Great Britain have won the gold medal in ice hockey at the Olympics before.
Giants are a good strong team at the minute and are well on their way to a successful season. I used to play hockey with Paul Sample who plays for the Giants, think he is #55, not sure.
Spread the word around as well mate, the more that go the better
Re: Newcastle Vipers V Sheffield Steelers *Ice Hockey*
i get free tickets all the time due to we advertise for them (gaints) in our paper so tickets arent that hard to come across but i will be going more often as the odessy arena is only 2 mile away.
i dont really know much about the sport but its growing on me now that ive experniced it live
Re: Newcastle Vipers V Sheffield Steelers *Ice Hockey*
Yeah, seeing it on TV does it no justice, the same goes for the NHL, it's one of them sports that is just not meant for TV like football and Rugby are.
Definatly no subsitute for seeing it live in a packed arena (bring back the 80'/90's) ;)
