Anyone ever lived in a caravan/motorhome full time?
I have been looking at living in a motorhome/caravan for a year or 2 to save money whist still working full time.
Got divorced 2 years ago and want to save and also as i live on my own i don't really need a big place. Renting a one bed at the mo at £500pm and was looking in to the possibility of this .
Seen a few that have normal bed/cooker/shower and toilet etc.
As i lived in Cardiff i am not sure it can be done as the static sites are all Past Swansea etc etc.
Anyone done this?

Thanks for the reply mate.
I've been renting since 2009 and i have lived in ely etc but it is a landlords market as so few quality properties about. My job last year involved re housing people who have been homeless and those at the £300-£350 end are total dives to be honest and any that are not do not stay available for long.

I often search the areas. Ely now on gumtree or rightmove is £450 min.
I've shared before and it's a mixed bag. Looking at a 4 birth caravan for 2 years to save money etc etc.

Have you asked Mr Lahey?
Only jk. I reckon it would be way cheaper TBH, but I am not familiar with ur area. There's a few parks around Essex and south east london. But I don't know anyone as such. It much be worth while otherwise there wouldn't be such places. Just my 2p.

I appreciate the info mate but I am not looking to share. I am interested in the caravan idea.
I've shared loads before and it's not for me.
Re: Anyone ever lived in a caravan/motorhome full time?
As your probably aware, its where to sleep in it that may couse problems.
Static sites cost a fortune around here.
Ideally you need farmers land for cheap or something id assume :/

Hi m8,
We don't full time but we do spend circa 3 months away in the Motorhome and it`s certainly not an unpleasant experience (we intend to go full time at the first available opportunity as we love it).
May be worth you looking at the CS and CL Sites available in the area (as per the Camping and Caravanning Club & Caravan Club) as these are small sites that only allow up to 5 units at any one time, they are usually very cheap and I believe you would get a preferential rate if staying for x amount of weeks at a time.
GOOD LUCK.

Yes i had a look at some on the west coast of Wales and it was ridiculous and then it would mean i would not be able to save the money that i wanted.
I agree i would need some private land to make the most.

Thanks for the info. I will indeed look in to it further.
I have looked at a blog that suggests some site and free camping is possible.

Did this for about 3 years. The winters are a fucking killer unless you have ur own static/caravan and put a wood burner in it.
Bottles of gas alone in winter are way too much and due to the nature of LPG gas you get buckets loads of condensation and wet clothes in the cold mornings. (For every litre of gas you burn you chuck a litre of water into your caravan)
HAVE A WOOD BURNER or don't do it. If you have a wood burner it's cheap and I loved the way of life.
Simple to install your own burner and you can pick one up for under £100. If you go down that route you will be sat in your undies in January.
Where I was had a site office with Wifi not for the public but they only used WEP protection.. so I bought a directional aerial for my laptop and had Wifi... not condoning/recommending this.. I was a very naughty boy.
Probably not needed now due to good 3g/4g which didn't exist back then.
Re: Anyone ever lived in a caravan/motorhome full time?
i have thought about this my self, the kids will be going out on there own in about 6-8 years(i Hope),
the house is paid for in 5 years (worth atmo around £125,000), as the wife has hip & back problems due to being a professional dancer in the 80's90's when we met.
she still works as i do too.
but we have been looking at bungalows or static.
still not sure what to do.
Re: Anyone ever lived in a caravan/motorhome full time?
Looks like fees for static can be quite large.
My intention is to live in a caravan to save Money to buy a house, not to live in It forever.
Seems I will need to find a nice farmer or some land to do what I want as I don't want to keep moving all the time or stay on holiday parks.

Don't think i would go static or a caravan with any ill health problems tbh mate. Bungalow all the way if i had the funds.
