Office 2010 install probs
Hey guys,
Got laptop from sis-in-law, asking me to put office 2010 on for her course.
CD install failed. Turns out Office Click-to-run 2010 & Office Starter 2010- English are in the program & features list.
Neither work or uninstall. C2R has the Q partition if anyone is familiar with it.
Scoured google for solutions but nothing as yet and it's pissing me right off....Something that should be so simple make me want to just smash the damn thing lol.
MS's easyfix for office 2010 doens't work either.
Any suggestions please. I've thought about a clean 7 install but there's 3 users on the machine.
Cheers
Re: Office 2010 install probs
Do you have a legit licence key? If not then maybe look at Office 2013/16 as they are better IMO. Not sure what you mean about Click to Run having the Q partition, usually an odd partition like that would be the OS recovery.
If you have a legit key and the already installed versions won't uninstall then look at Revo Uninstaller and see if that can remove them. Then visit this site, enter your key and it should take you to the appropriate download.

Tried Revo, but that just hung when trying to remove both versions.
Did find a tool called cleanc2r which got rid of both and q drive.
However, office 14 ends with - Microsoft Office Standard 2010 encountered an error during setup.
Just about to try version 15
Re: Office 2010 install probs
It is getting to the point where a format/reinstall may be a good idea, perhaps even tie in with an SSD upgrade whilst you are at it. There may be some registry changes you can make to get this to work but in my head when I do that I feel like the system is dirty/bodged and my OCD kicks in forcing me to format so I know it's a clean system without any problems waiting to crop up.
You may find some info in the Application Event Logs, an error code there may help if you google it.

Did you right-click 'Run as Admin'?
Also, follow the manual removal instructions here.
Re: Office 2010 install probs
Click & Run is a pre-install installation CD that is hidden with a partition of the HDD. Have a look using Disk Management and it'll either have a seperate partition or may come under System/Recovery and nothing can be removed.
That being said, uninstalling it from the Program Features menu removes all the Office installation and allows a new one to be installed.
If that's not working, use this - https://support.office.com/en-gb/art...8-67e1b766fc4d
I know you already tried, but that should remove all trace. After using it, turn off the PC (not restart), turn back on and install the new version your using as standard.
Failing that, let me have Teamviewer access and I'll have a look for you. Nothing should stop an install after Office Remover has been used, apart from a dodgy reg.
Re: Office 2010 install probs
I assume it's genuine as it's not my laptop and she wouldn't know how to do that.
At work now till 2 am so will have a look tomorrow.
Cheers

Re: Office 2010 install probs
Thanks for the offer DejaVu but been working very late shifts and not had time.
Did get the original off, buy no matter what office would fail to install. Removed all the reg entries from your link but to no avail.
Ended up doing a fresh install of 7 home premium, putting their personal files back on, then installing office which worked 1st time.
Annoying that the problem couldn't be found as I've installed office many times without hiccups.
Only thing left to do is find WiFi drivers for the machine as Toshiba support have nothing for this model due to age meh.
Thanks all for the replies

Re: Office 2010 install probs
Toshiba should have drivers, in the drop down there should be an option for archive on the driver site.
