Ok Guys. this is a sticky to prevent many time wasting and mass duplicating posts because people hate using the search old post buttons.
In the following topics coming in the next few days, i'll try and answer the most common questions and problems occuring here at the moment,
So before posting a topic, please check the stickys to see if the answer to your question or problem is there.
The last thing you guys want is me or raptor in your faces.
This is generally aimed as i said of the guys here that spend thier valuable time here, answering the same question every other day.
As well there will be a member topic, which you can offer suggestions on what you would like to see on this Forum. (all requested codes are put in 1 thread etc) any grievences etc.
Some of the stickys that are going to be made are..
1. Which Radio's Can Be Decoded Via Serial Number.
this will be a hopefully accurate in depth list of what radio's can & cannot be decoded this way. (sooooooo many people posting numbers for uncalculateable radio's). If the radio is in the list of can be decoded, post your request. if it is in the list saying "Cannot be decoded via serial" then don't post the serial number, just ask how can i get it decoded.
2. Where Do I Find My Serial Number If My radio Is Listed Above.
again so many posts especially philips where people just post everything except the correct serial number.
3. How do I enter My Code Number
this will be a rough guide as many radio's are different. i'll talk yot through the process of trying 1 combination first, if that doesn't work then other methods.

4. Tools needed to start Decoding My Own Radio

Maybe a buy & sell sticky.
sell your old decoding tools or radio's and maybe soft authors could notify you guys of new stuff available to buy or give for free.

If you have just come here to get 100's of free codes to make money on, the best idea i can give you, is go elsewhere. support the authors and buy their soft.
without them radio's would just be useless.
I'm against free / cracked software , but what can we do, it's all part of life. the software is only as good as the protection.nothing can be done about this.

Which Radios Can be docoded Via Serial Number

All Versions with Serial Numbers Starting With

When requesting codes please post this serial number and nothing else !!!!!!
Old Units with a 7 digit number in the PCB
Again only post this 7 digit number.
If there are no serial numbers starting with M,L or C on the radio then look for this number.

Again the serial number should be obvious (3 letters & 6 numbers) eg AGC008765

Old & New Blaupunkts use a diffrent algorythms so new bp will not calculate with old bp serial calculator
CLARION
Only these models can be decoded remotly by letting us know the link location or by sending a pic of the radio (top & bottom). You need to remove the tape deck to take a pic of the top, to see the linkpad locations. These radio's as a rule have 10 or 12 link positions which vary in position on the radio. some links are joined together, some are not.

Also some models with 2 bar codes on the top of the radio and the second barcode starting with C7 can be decoded via this serial number.
If your clarion radio is not listed here, then it is an eeprom based radio. It can be decoded via serial number, but not for free.

If your serial differs from any of the above, then they can be decoded via serial number, but not for free
Philips
Most philips can be decoded by serial number from 1995 - 2000.
post 2000 radio's can also be decoded via serial number but is not free.
This includes Siemens VDO, who bought philips in 2004
Again the serial numbers are on the side engraved into a heatsink, some are quite difficult to see.others are on the label on the top of the radio
These can vary in type but serials found begin with the below and are usually 14 Digits in length

At Present there are a very limited amount of people that can Decode these radio's via serial number. ;-)
There is no Free method or serial number calculator for these unless you are a GM Main dealer.

The following radios can be decoded by sending a clear picture of the underneath of the radio. There is no need to remove the metal cover, just make sure you use a good quality scanner or digital camera.

You will need a working remote control for the unit to enter the code given into the radio.

These are also Becker radio's but fitted into Mercedes Vehicles.
Before a code is supplied with these, you will need to let us know how many preset buttons there are on the radio. as a rule there is 4-9 buttons. also these radio's need a 5 digit code mostly, but some mercedes becker are 4 digits. Give as much information as you can when requesting a code for these.

THE FUTURE OF THE CODED RADIO'S
Here's a little Add-on about the way manufacturers are doing away with the security code and replacing it with the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) coding into the radio's.
This Basicly means that whatever car the radio was initially installed in, it will "ONLY" work correctly in this car.
If the Radio was fitted into another vehicle, then the VIN Number in the ECU and/or immobiliser will differ to the radio. Then varied problems will occur such as "CAN CHECK" displaying, Radio works but beeping every 20 seconds, or maybe just "NO POWER".
The only way to decode this is to set the radio back to a "Virgin State" then the ECU/immobiliser will accept the new radio. (soon there may be a way of decoding these via the On Board Diagnostic Socket).
You can still fit an aftermarket radio into the car, but there may be problems with fault codes or warning lights coming on in the vehicle, so we don't recommend this.

We can reset these radio's but not Free.
If you are fitting the same model radio into a new car, (eg taking radio out of peugeot car 1 and fitting it into identical car 2) then we will also need the VIN number of the new vehicle, to program into the radio, to get it working again
Also remember the above radio's will cannot be installed into a different make of car.. (eg peugeot radio will not install into a ford vehicle)
Symptoms of a VIN coded radio include "CAN CHECK" on the display,a seeminly dead radio, or the radio beeping every 10 seconds when switched on.
