Trade Proposition Opinions
I am currently trying to sell my 86 Yamaha Maxim 700 and stuck it on Gumtree for £850. Today I got a message from someone wanting to trade it for a 2000 Kawasaki ZX6R J1 as a straight swap. After a few messages back and forth he has said that he is interested in the trade as he needs a bike to get to and from work so he cant sell his. He also reckons I will be easily be able to sell it on quickly for £1400. He has said it has had a new rear tyre and pads and is taxed until august and MOT until April. Its done 55000 miles
My Maxim is obviously older, is an import and is taxed and MOT until March, its in decent condition for its age.
He has said he is about 30 miles away and will travel to do the trade.
I need cash so I would be doing this trade and selling the ZX6R and hopefully it would be more desirable to a buyer and easier to sell and maybe I could get a bit more for it.
It seems a bit dodgy and too good to be true. I would get the bike checked over by a friend who is more knowledgeable about bikes and confirm the ownership etc.
What do you think?
Re: Trade Proposition Opinions
I agree it seems dodgy to me
Re: Trade Proposition Opinions
If it's so easy to sell for more money then why isn't he doing it?
Alarm bells are ringing to me mate in my personal opinion.
Re: Trade Proposition Opinions
This is what he said

and i can assure you if you sold the zx6r you would get 1400 easy i brought it in August for 1700 the reason i look to trade is that i need a constant mode of transport
Re: Trade Proposition Opinions
i just bought a zx6r on a 'y' reg (2000) showing 42k miles for the princely sum of £250
i seriously doubt his valuation!!
Re: Trade Proposition Opinions
If anyone is interested, I backed out of the trade.
I actually think it was probably legit I just couldn't be arsed with the hassle.
Cheers for your opinions and advice
