Re: What are you reading?
I'm halfway through "Gazza - My Story", and it's really interesting comparing what I knew then (loved Gazza back in the day) and what was really going on.
I only really read biographies and technical books (programming etc).
Re: What are you reading?
Currently going through the "A song of Ice and Fire" series by George RR Martin.
After that, who knows, I got given a Kindle for my birthday along with a huge selection of books, many of which I've always planned to read, so Maybe I'll start with some Mark Twain. Either that or I'll finally get round to reading Crime and Punishment or War and Peace, as they've been sitting on my shelf untouched for about 18 months.
Re: What are you reading?
Currently reading 'The Selfish Gene' by Richard Dawkins.
It's an absorbing read that delves into the ideas and theories behind what essentially powers evolution. Some of the ideas seem counterintuitive at first, but Dawkins does a good job of using everyday analogies to explain them in a non-scientific way.
I'm only about a third of the way through it but enjoying it so far.
Re: What are you reading?
I am currently reading WPF Programming on the Kindle - boring i know :-)

@CJ once you're done with the selfish gene if you haven't read it already have a look at Freakanomics and SuperFreakanomics, both of them are by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner and they're both a cracking read. They look at just about everything from a new angle, like how its more dangerous to walk drunk rather than drive drunk.

Thanks for the recommends mate. I've already read them both. Would highly recommend them too. They certainly make you think and give a different perspective on things, especially some of the social aspects of their research.
Re: What are you reading?
I'm working my way through the Wilbur Smith The Courtney books, just started the second Monsoon.Got to say if they are all as good as the first got a lot of fun reading to come :)
Re: What are you reading?
Reading the 2nd book in the A song of Ice and Fire series...... very good so far. Tyrion Lannister is an awesome character!
Re: What are you reading?
Trying to get the WOT series of books finished before the final part actually comes out! After that I have Freakonomics and Selfish Gene lined up, along with a whole heap of books I haven't read since I was much younger, David Eddings, Piers Anthony etc.
Re: What are you reading?
Just finished Dominik Diamonds autobiography....quite enjoyed it, though it was heavy on the Celtic fan side of things, it was quite an eye opener....I never realised football sectarianism was quite so bad in Scotland till I read this.
Re: What are you reading?
Pies and Prejudice...very enjoyable and funny
Re: What are you reading?
Just finishing the Percy Jackson series. Not very heavy.. more like kids books. Really enjoyed the Greek Olympian theme. I spend a lot of my time reading business process books that are very heavy and complicated, so these have been a good escape..
Before these I went through the Dirk Pitt series and the the John Dortmunder series..
I like books that follow a character through growth.. Like the Harry Potter stories.
Re: What are you reading?
During my hour and ten minute commute this morning I used the text to speach feature of the kindle to listen to, My Bloody Valentine by James Patterson it's a short 45minute-ish story and as much as I enjoy the Alex Cross and Womens Murder Club series this was a new low, save your money
Re: What are you reading?
I've just started "Roses are Red" by James Patterson (one of the Alex Cross books) I only started the series end of last year and wanted to read them in order. Unfortunately it didn't work out that way so far from the series i have read Along came a spider, kiss the girls, jack and jill then i jumped to forward to four blind mice now i've moved back to roses are red and ive also got violets are blue to read next.
Re: What are you reading?
I did the same, I bought Cross and Big Bad Wolf on a whim in a discount book shop and couldnt put them down,
Re: What are you reading?
I'm also reading A Song of Fire and Ice and am about 60% into book 2. Started after watching A Game of Thrones on tv and think the books are excellent. Agreed that Tyrion is excellent. There is just so much going on and I NEED to know what's in store - can't put it down.

Re: What are you reading?
At the moment I'm reading 'The Line of Polity' by Neal Asher. It's the 2nd in a hardcore Sci-Fi series featuring an agent called John Cormack. If you are a fan of Peter F Hamilton or Ian M Banks 'Culture' novels then I would highly recommend from what I have read so far.
Come July 12th though I will be reading this.

It will be available from Amazon for £14.99 and can be pre ordered now ! :cool2:
