Latest Windows 10 "Features Update" Crippling my PC
Anyone else getting super unresponsive results from it?
This one? http://www.express.co.uk/life-style/...dows-10-Mobile
Things taken ages to load and unresponsive once they are loaded? My system is pretty high end (8Core with 32GB RAM) and after Microsoft decided to shut it down and install this latest update, it's been pretty crap.
Took a while to do too. The Action Center is now permanently next to the Show Desktop bar on the task bar is the easiest way to tell.

Is it just me? I've tried rebooting at least 5 times and things are still slow!
Re: Latest Windows 10 "Features Update" Crippling my PC
Mine updated a few days ago and it hasn't been too bad to say I hate windows and usually use linux, got the 1607 update on a crappy Dell core 2 duo system with only 3GB RAM I'm using as a temporary system as I sold my main one
Re: Latest Windows 10 "Features Update" Crippling my PC
Mine updated 2 days ago. I turned on my laptop as I needed to use it quite urgently. 30 mins later I could actually use it after it forced an update without asking. It broke my synaptics touchpad and had to be reinstalled which pissed me off even further.
Going back to your original question I haven't noticed it any slower.
Re: Latest Windows 10 "Features Update" Crippling my PC
I'm just finding the whole windows ten experience to be a pain in the ass. Invasive updates, tiles that it thinks I might like to have on my home screen. pointless security checks to access my network, force feeding me Cunty Cortana.
It's painful.
Re: Latest Windows 10 "Features Update" Crippling my PC
Did anyone notice it also added a taskbar shortcut to Edge too? I wish they'd just give up on that browser, it's shite.
Re: Latest Windows 10 "Features Update" Crippling my PC
Biggest issue for me so far has been the near-constant setting/resetting of the default apps. Getting some reset messages regarding extensions I've never heard of, let alone have used.
Not happy at all with the 'update' but I suppose it's just one more thing to get used to.
Re: Latest Windows 10 "Features Update" Crippling my PC
They turned of my sound to my games which wasn't a biggie but to noobs out there I bet they thought their sound card broken lol
I don't know why but there is 2 settings in the startup file "powershell %location" (directory & (file) I have tried to delete these even in safe mode but you cant, does anyone know what these do and why you cannot remove em
Re: Latest Windows 10 "Features Update" Crippling my PC
Turns out this has been one of the biggest fuck ups Microsoft has offered. Thousands complaining about the update causing lots of different problems.
Roll back to 1511 while you still can. Doing mine now.
Destructions are here
http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/how-downgra...o-late-1574488
YOU ONLY HAVE 10 DAYS TO ROLL BACK.
I would suggest doing it, I predict further problems with future updates.
I'm going to turn off updates for a while until Microsoft pull their finger out and get it right.
EDIT:
All issues solved after downgrading. Thank fuck for that.

Re: Latest Windows 10 "Features Update" Crippling my PC
I'm on 1511 on my Lenovo Yoga 900. I'm dreading this 'update' as every single update I've had so far has broken something. How come it hasn't dropped for me yet though ? The update checker says I'm up to date.
Re: Latest Windows 10 "Features Update" Crippling my PC
I've had 2 or 3 customers in the last 48 hours with corrupt drivers. One on an Acer laptop which disabled the microphone, another on a Dell i5 tower which screwed with Samsung laser printer drivers, and another which his wireless keyboard and mouse stopped working after upgrading.
Re: Latest Windows 10 "Features Update" Crippling my PC
change settings to metered Connection
Start > Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Advanced Options, then slide the Metered Connection slider to On.
Stops Windows forcing updates ;-)
Re: Latest Windows 10 "Features Update" Crippling my PC
Just me then... My main PC update just fine, with no issues at all. Running as it was, and the new update didn't break anything and as far as I can tell its next to fuck all different to what it was before. Aside from the few cosmetic changes...
(Fuck do I wish I hadn't said that now...)

Re: Latest Windows 10 "Features Update" Crippling my PC
I'm with you on this DejaVu. My laptop has been unusable since last week. Spent nearly all weekend and the last two days trying various fixes. The disk activity is at a constant 100%.
The fixes I found were disabling a couple of search services. Disabling notifications and changing the page file settings as well as uninstalling Skype (which some thought has conflicts with Chrome).
Today, the laptop started working just after the page file settings took effect. A reboot resulted in going back to square one.

Spy-were?
Yeah coz there any more into data mining than google, apple, asda or any fucker else online these days!
Unless you use the www with a live OS on public wifi and live under a bridge I'd seriously quit worrying about your privacy. Long gone like Joan Collins' virginity.

Re: Latest Windows 10 "Features Update" Crippling my PC
Don't know if this works but I haven't been hit with the latest update.
Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services - scroll down the list to 'Windows Update' double click or right click and select properties, then for Startup type choose 'Disabled'.
An alternative method to get to administrative tools is to select Settings from the Start button then type administrative tools into the 'find a setting' search box. Then continue as above to services to disable the service. (">
Re: Latest Windows 10 "Features Update" Crippling my PC
Updated two pc's at work and one at home with no problems. All three were clean Windows 10 installs and not upgrades from 7 or 8. The only changes I've noticed so far is the Edge icon in the taskbar and Skype popping up now and again. They don't feel any slower and the boot time hasn't changed.
