just wondering what is considered normal hard drive space on df users machines?
i'm currently running 1.1tb on one machine and 650gb on the other, i'd be interested to hear what other users are running.

just wondering what is considered normal hard drive space on df users machines?

i have 100gb on mine and 40gb on my missus's.
Why do you need so much?
Must be heavily into Warez!!
Gimp
err normal I don't know, but meesa has 20gb:o:
How have u got 1.1tb btw:confused:
@gimp, video work not warez as i'm not intrested in pc stuff at the best of times, uncompressed video takes a shitload of disk space at decent quality however
@m3yer, using a selection of ata controller cards to give me 24 ide slots to fill :D
I have a 120gig as my main drive and a 60 gig drive for sharing stuff.
Im planning to capture all my dads old cine film and turn it all to svcd, so I need the space of the 120 gig drive to capture in uncompressed avi.

Home LAN Server 200Gb
Win95 Box 7Gb
Laptop 60Gb
Sky+ 120Gb
Amiga A4000 1.25Gb
Found a receipt for a hard drive which I purchased back in September 95.
A 4 Gb drive cost me £299.99.
At those prices, my current total HD space would have cost me £29117.78. Sobering thought.
G
I have loads of old floppy disks about 20,000 of em, so theoretically I have about 28.8 gig ?
Plus my 2 x 2.4 gig SCSI Wide drives, could you want anymore space than that ?
2 hot swappable racks of 10 18.2 gig UltraWide SCSI = 3.64 Terrabytes, but set up as RAID 5 which looses a fair amount of drivespace, each rack ends up as 135gig.
1 30 gig Western Digital IDE
1 40 gig can't remember and can't get to easily
4.4 terrabytes raw and unformatted, still well over 3 terrabytes formatted, and yeah, I do need it and I do use it, believe me no-one on this forum would take too long to fill all that space, but it does make it a real task to remember what and where everything is, as well as a good excuse to keep lots of totally useless sh!te :-)
i ave
