Just ordered an electric bike.
It's a Viking E mountain bike type. Not a mutts nuts bike going by some of the other specs out there but price wise it's ok imo. I've been cycling around on an old bike for years but want to start going that bit further and hopefully, the motor will make things a little less tiring on the old legs. Spec says up to 20 miles on a full charge, but I imagine half that is more realistic but still enough for me. Anyone else got one?
Re: Just ordered an electric bike.
i was looking at getting a motor for my bike but got very confused on what i needed would love anyone elses thoughts as well
Re: Just ordered an electric bike.
How old are the legs?
Have you attempted cycling short journeys and building your distance up?
Re: Just ordered an electric bike.
Surely this shouldn't be in health and fitness?
unless lots of hills you should get close to the claimed mileage if not I'd send it back as the battery is just going to add weight and slow you down.
Re: Just ordered an electric bike.
Not got one but been looking at/considering the Whisper SE for a while now. I want to cycle but my rubbish knees mean I can't for long. A bit of help for the hills might be the way to enjoy it again. Some good vids on YT.
Re: Just ordered an electric bike.
I've been using a traditional cycle for some years now. Mainly to get to my fishing spots a bit quicker but also the health benefits of it in general. Past year or so, my legs are starting to feel it even though I cycle a lot. I live in an area with a mixture of flat and slight hilly roads with the occasional steep hill. I've had the electric bike a few days now and it's really made a difference. I can now cycle to places that would have knackered me when I arrived on my old bike. It's a pedal assisted one so you need to pedal for the motor to work and you really notice the assistance it gives you. On the flats I don't use the power but any slight long inclines etc. then I do and there's no pressure at all on my legs.
I guess to me, it's a mix of some 'help' when I feel like it and a bit of a workout when that takes my fancy as well. Best of both worlds and glad I got it. Done 8.5 miles this afternoon on a mix of battery power and just my legs and not tired at all. Power meter is showing only one less bar so it still has plenty left.
