Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has been arrested following an alleged assault in the early hours of Monday morning.
The incident took place at a bar in Southport around 2.30am and led to six men being arrested by police.
Merseyside Police have confirmed that the six men had been arrested on suspicion of assault after a man was taken to hospital with facial injuries.

yeh and do you notice how late it was too, probably after last orders(injury time), hmmmmmmm getting some practice in for their next premiership game
Re: Gerard Arrested Following Bar Row
Should be banned for a year, along with Reina and Torres :)
Re: Gerard Arrested Following Bar Row
most likely some everton fan nobhead winding him up he'd had a bit too much to drink and twatted him.
As much as I dislike the cunt it dont half get all blown out of proportion when its a premiership player, the fact that he's one of the better players will just make it even worse for him. I wouldnt pass any judgement on him until I know whats actually happened, you just dont know what this guy has done?
Re: Gerard Arrested Following Bar Row
I've been in "The Lounge" in Southport where it happened. Its a nice place... but its in a town thats getting an awful reputation for attacks. A lad at my work got headbutted two weeks back there and had his eye socket shattered.
Fuckin shocker.
Gerrard might be sticking to Formby in the future methinks?

I ALWAYS make the assumption that the footballer is innocent. After all, how often do we get these kinds of headlines only to hear nothing of it. Well, unless its Joey Barton of course.

Whilst he has yet to be convicted of anything, we'll see if anyone calls for him to be sacked, banned from the game, exied to the moon etc, like thepress did for Joey Barton. (I'm not defending BArton BTW, just interested how the press will handle this with Gerrard being such an untouchable).

Re: Gerard Arrested Following Bar Row
It will be a P.R Nightmare for Liverpool football club if this ends up with a conviction after this quote .....
"Steven has been an outstanding servant to Liverpool for the last 10 years and the club will give him all the support he needs at this time."
... could be read as.... Liverpool Football club supports convicted Violent Nightclub Criminal.
So his club are either certain he didnt do it or are taking a big risk by that Quote.
