Fixing a TV to a plasterboard wall...
I've been involved in some DIY catastrophes before but this to me looks like it will be the most expensive.
My friend wants me to go round tomorrow to help fix a TV to a stud wall.:tosser2:
The wall has kitchen cupboards the other side.
Surely this isn't going to be strong enough?
Ive got a TV in my bedroom on the wall but it's bolted into the brick chimney breast.

You need brolly clips mate, you don't really need the gun thing but it's no doubt better

Re: Fixing a TV to a plasterboard wall...
I used a magnet to locate the screws in the plasterboard which in turn is screwed into the wooden stud. Once u have found the stud, make a smaller pilot hole (so not to split the wood) & then use small coach bolt to hang the mount.
If your TVmount spans out, then have the TV mount in the middle of the stud so the weight is anchored by the stud, & use the outa screw holes to keep it from moving.
Home bargains sell plaster board mounts which are supposed to be the bollox at the moment.

Similar to what Plug1 said you can get dry wall plugs the screw in then fan out as soon as they reach the other side, imho a bit more solid the the ones plug1 suggest but both are good.
eg you screw em one way till you hear em ping open then screw em back to tighten etc

second the cavity wall plugs with the gun, in conjunction with using a magnet to find the studs. got my 55" mounted onto plasterboard stud wall. used 14 of the cavity wall plugs just to make sure it would stay up! ;-)
