CCTV options for empty property on meter
Hi I got this house that I was letting out. He moved out in Dec and I had to do a big clean up job and theres still a few bits to do until I can let it out again.
However one of the windows was broke last weekend I don't know if it was an attempted break in or whatever. So I would like to get 2 CCTV cameras that will send me alerts.
Can anyone advise me what to get?
The problem is the house is on a meter.
Re: CCTV options for empty property on meter
Would these cameras just need to alert you of movement and then you can view on your phone to see what's going on or do you need high quality images? Is there internet at the property to enable these alerts and remote viewing?
In the past I have had trouble when using mobile broadband with CCTV as a lot of mobile ISPs share IPs between more than one person which makes remote viewing tricky if possible at all, this may not be the norm and it may have just been a problem with the particular network/plan in use. Normal broadband doesn't have the same issues but you need to set up port forwarding so even if you had access to a neighbours WiFi you would need to login to their router admin page too.

oh dam I just thought there's no internet at the mo so I guess it would just have to record images
Re: CCTV options for empty property on meter
You can get fixed ip mobile sims that get around carrier grade NAT so you'll be able to view remotely too.

I picked up a cheap Chinese digital clock with a built in camera and IR leds for about a tenner last year - set up on my home wifi it does motion sensing and emails me a photo whenever it's triggered. I'm also waiting for bits to arrive for a raspberry pi based pir sensing camera with sensing for my mobile so when it recognises my phones mac address online it knows I'm in the house and disarms and reactivates when I leave
