Marine Fish - Who has them?
Hi Guys,
How many of you have marine fish? I have tropical fish currently and I have been downsizing my stock for about a year as I am hoping to switch to marine. But I need a honest view from people who are not trying to sell stock etc.
Questions:
1. How much work are these fish? Daily/Weekly and Monthly.
2. What coral, sand, fish and invertebrates should I start with?
3. I have seen hours of footage on YouTube of people creating their reefs using piping to stabilise their coral, have you been able to do this?
4. Are artificial reefs any good? Or you know of any eco sourced coral?
5. What equipment would I need to buy/change?
6. Are LED lights any good?
7. Where should I look for supplies; online, offline or both?
I've been looking at loads of forum posts for setups and I really like this setup as the whole back of the glass is covered as cleaning the back of the tank is a pain in the ass!

I will produce a current kit list later today with photos of my tank and it's exact measurements.

I keep marine fish.
1. Depends on what fish and how many you want
2. There are three types of corals Soft, LPS & SPS. Soft are the easiest to care for then LPS and SPS you do need to put in more work to keep SPS in good health. Sand go for crushed coral, helps with the PH of the water. Fish you could start with a pair of Clown Fish that could live 20 years. Inverts:- Snail's, Crabs, Shrimps.
3. I haven't seen and vids.
4. If your into eco buy second hand Live Rock but be careful as it could be full of nasties(Nitrate's & Phosphates) you can buy man made live rock but it's not cheap. Eco Corals? Corals are grown to be sold, you could even do it your self(I buy Frag's and just let them grow rather than spending loads on a big coral)
5. Depends on the size of tank and what you want to keep but at the very least a Tank, Live Rock, Power heads & lighting.
6. Yes if you have enough of them but they are cheap to run.
7. Where ever you can find what you want at a price your happy to pay.
