Good online shops for cheap camera gear???
I was toying with getting a Canon f/1.8 50mm prime and it occurred to me I don't know which are the cheapest, most reliable shops on the net for photography stuff. I have only really bought bits like memory cards and cases as my 300D was an inheritance off my old man when he got his 400D and I am stuck with the 18-55 that came with it and I don't like it much. He is about to buy a Canon EF 70-200mm f/4.0 L IS USM Lens as he is complaining that he is having trouble keeping his old one steady and this has IS. Any fucking excuse :D but this means I should be getting his Sigma APO 75-300 which is nice.
Anyway back on topic. How about we get a thread going here with good shops with good prices. Maybe it could be stickied if it proves a success???

I'm not sure if you can claim the cash back from this shop as they are based in Hong Kong.
I'm just trying to find out at the moment, the good thing about them though is they guarantee to pay your VAT if you happened to get caught with it, which is nice.
I'm just trying to get good price for a EOS 30D, and they have it pretty cheap.

Been looking at this site and I'm very tempted to get the 50mm 1.8 myself as its only £47.99, although I can't find out postage price without registering?
Anybody else used these?
Re: Good online shops for cheap camera gear???

postage varies depending on what level you want (i.e. air, air fedex, air registered etc) I used registered post, it didnt break the bank and came in way cheeper than everyone else.
Re: Good online shops for cheap camera gear???
That lens comes in at £62.38 with postage using Air Mail unregistered. You can get it off Amazon for 60.10 (?) with free postage.
Re: Good online shops for cheap camera gear???
so you can, there adding the VAT import now, wasnt like that when I bought mine.
very strange but good find on the amazon model.
Re: Good online shops for cheap camera gear???
Thanks for the info, just completed my order with Amazon for the Canon 50mm. Almost got swayed at the last moment by a Sigma 18-50mm for £42.05, the "zoom appeal" nearly got me. But decided it was probably no better than my std kit lense anyway for that price.
