Default PS4 sub accounts - transfer?

I'm a bit confused and not sure on the best way forward with this:

Looking at getting son a PS4 for Xmas - he currently uses my PS4 and i have set him up a sub account which he has physical and downloaded games and also all his saved progress files.

When he opens his Xmas gift and we start to set up the PS4, how will he be able to access all the stuff he had?

    Or can he not?!

    Ta!

If he's got a pen plus subscription it will all be backed up to the cloud so all you need to do is sign in woth his account and everything can then be downloaded

    Thanks to fanni

Me, the primary account holder, has a psn plus subscription - but he only has a sub account to mine.

Can you not sign in as you, Download your profile to it and use it as he did yours?

You will need to set one up as your primary console first though, else you'll be signed out of the one, when logging in to the other...

It has gone horribly wrong although probably best solution.

Sony has recently introduced the facility to transfer from other PS4 to new PS4 - all the saves, photos, games etc. So i have connected the new PS4 to our network and set it to transfer his account over to the new system - all 250gb; will be ready in 8hrs!!

So he is still playing on my PS4 until his is ready, but i think this is the better option.

It did ask if i wanted to deactivate my PS4 and activate his as the primary - did i do right in selecting 'no'?!

Sort of - deactivated my PS4 and enabled his as primary. This allows us to play all our games on either PS4 and we only need to buy one PS subscription.

    This has highlighted:

    a. Because i put in his real date of birth, there is NO way Sony will let you change this - therefore he cannot go online with age restricted games. He can set up another account, but it will be with a different gamer tag. In hindsight, i would not have given him a sub account, but a full working account and just monitored what games he is purchased/played.

    b. I have to add funds to my master account, but he can use these funds through his account if he needs to.

A sub account would have been great minus the age restriction. Then means the sub account can play all games online?

Sounds like the age restriction stuff in PS4 is a ballache.

Can you call them, verify your the account holder and get the restriction lifted? That sounds like way too 'nanny state' to me.

I thought you the consumer decided who plays what games. NOT Sony... Mind you, with the American kids recent antics blazing round schools, it wouldn't surprise me.

I spent an age googling the age thing and getting it lifted and all the results said can't be done - "set in stone".

Yes, they can play online, but for instance, my lad is now 12, so can play Overwatch online, but if he puts in CoD (18) he can play single player, but is not allowed access online.

Sony have recently released different levels of access, ie he turns 17 he can play some sort of teen account, and once he gets to 18 he can upgrade his account to a master account. That is something, but like you say, completely nanny state!
