    Default Blocking network access

Can anyone help me with a question please? My daughter uses her Ipad to read before she goes to sleep each night but she's also watching Youtube. We've taken her Ipad off her but what I'd really like to do is block her access to the network between certain times. I've assigned her Ipad a fixed IP address on our router and added a rule to block inbound and outbound traffic between 8 and 8 but that hasn't worked. As far as I can tell it's all been setup correctly but I've read on a few forums that the router (Sky Hub) doesn't work properly. Is there another way of doing it, perhaps an app on the Ipad itself?

    Thanks

You could also add a cheap WAP with dd-wrt (d-link dir-615 can be had for around a tenner on eBay) and have the option to ban websites, keywords etc. I have found a lot of free routers struggle with some more advanced settings even if they offer them natively, had a similar issue with a BT homehub when changing the subnets, reserving IPs etc.

Perhaps it isn't actually matching up against the static IP you assigned. You normally don't need to give the device a static IP, the router should be able to see the device just in its normal dhcp assignment. If the device isn't getting the static IP properly the the rule won't match. Perhaps it's a quirk of the Sky router.

Here's a similar process for a Plusnet router that maybe you could compare to? Otherwise I think the suggestions of an app on the iPad may be the way forwards:
