Very interested in the Xbox One method! I've been tempted to get one for a while and now i have a really good excuse! Would definitely go for a Shield if money wasn't an issue, but i can't see us upgrading the TV to 4k for some time to get the most out of it. May have to keep the Raspberry Pi2 for Kodi if i go down the Xbox route

Same as Mystical I do all viewing on main TV via Xbox One and it works a treat. Plex, Sky Go, Emby Home Theatre. It does what it says on the tin.

As you I'm not 4k yet but when I do probably in a couple of years as I am in no rush, then I will do viewing via the Scorpio I assume. Android boxes are good but for me to do viewing on a secondary TV.

    2 Thanks given to piggzy

Yes I forgot to say it also works for Emby, Cheers for the recommendation on that Piggzy - a close rival to Plex in my opinion
You know he grew up as a little shitspark from the old shitflint and then he turned into a shitbonfire and driven by the winds of his monumental ignorance he turned into a raging shitfirestorm. If I get to be married to Barb I'll have total control of Sunnyvale and then I can unleash the shitnami tidal wave that will engulf Ricky and extinguish his shitflames forever. And with any luck he'll drown in the undershit of that wave. Shitwaves.

I may dump my Rasplex as I can't get any streaming apps to work. Is emby any good? I have an old Mac mini running ubuntu 10.xx but unsure if it will run emby..

I really rate Emby. Looks a lot nicer than plex. It only struggles if it is being used as a massive resold over used server as in these plex servers people sell. It cant compete in the number of connections with plex just yet but it is getting there.

But as a home server use scenario I personally think it is better than plex.

You can get lovely skins/themes and customize which does not exist in plex at all.

How will this work for Xbox PS4 etc as they are all main stream.
The main reason according to sly for the removal was to do with streaming of live premier league games

It wont affect things like consoles or generic boxes, but only boxes where they could lose revenue due to piracy such as Now TV, Amazon etc

None of the others have any reason to block shit.

e.g. If a content provider offers cheap box for viewing their content, avoid said box.

I get that but on Amazon it's a legit app so surely they won't block or pull it.
If they do will existing pieces of kit become like the 2nd gen Apple TV boxes then??

Mega over priced and fucked if updated.

    Doubt it very much.

Only Apple would pull shit like that imho

Apple don't give a shit about their customers so long as they blindly keep spending money

Didn't Amazon mess with Kodi and the Firestarter home app sometime last year?
Update fooked Firestarter and IIRC Kodi was demoted for a while. Not even sure its back in the sappstore but can still be sideloaded.

Where $$$ is concerned you can bet pressure is already being applied.

I know it is April fools day but the Kodi website has a screen up saying that the site has been seized by ICE - Homeland Security Investigations, pursuant to a seizure warrant issued by a United States District Court.

I would have thought that they could get a bollocking for using official government logo's ???? See if it comes back tomorrow.

Xbox one for me too. Small, quite , everything just works and 4K blue ray etc too - get a decent remote for it and sorted. The main Tv has plex etc but the wifi on it is shocking - the wifi on Xbox one is great so use it for pretty much everything - not going well telling everyone who I told to get £15 now boxs to get an Xbox lol but most are happy to wait for the new firestick before making a jump (or android box as discussed )

I've invested in a few mag boxes after the now/plex issue, supposedly connects straight to a server without the need for a ""middle man". All good feedback so far, but I haven't personally tested it fully.
