    Default BT No IP Software

Hey Guys got a we job later.

Been asked to setup a pub so cameras can be access remotely works fine when you use IP/Port.

But if router is restarted its getting a new IP.

i am sure i have seen in the BT routers have a No IP section with different providers

What is the best one out of them to use for this scenario and are they paid for ?

The generic term is dynamic dns and you have actually named my favourite one which is no-ip.com. I believe they have free addresses if you renew each month or they are cheap to buy. Modern BT hubs support no-ip in my experience or your cameras may have such a service built on (although at router is best imo).

Renew each month ? What do you mean by that ? The ip/domain/account ?

Think you log into the site each month to say you still want the service.

As ES said it's worth paying for its cheap and saves the hassles of forgetting etc.

From memory that's what you do, I pay for my account so I don't have to worry about it.

I use noip for my own Pi-powered CCTV. Works pretty well but as it's just for me I don't pay the money and just confirm every month. Pay for less hassle but the pub's gonna have to pay you each year unless they take on the account.

BT used to be pretty restrictive with what services they supported, IIRC in the beginning it was only DynDNS supported but since they went to pay only No-IP got more popular and a couple more are listed but I can't remember which.
