Organ Donation

Just wondering how many people are actively on the organ donation register? I just renewed my car tax and it popped up at the end asking me if I want to register.

The way I see it is, if I'm dead what good are these organs to me.

Yep I am signed up - when I go everything is either left as donation or for study

Just be aware, if you are on the register certain medications will be withheld at end of life, because they can damage the organs.
Personally there are too many types of people I would not want my organs to go to for me to be on the register.

Just not something I am in agreement of. I understand the benefits to others, but I have also seen that doctors can be a bit inconsiderate to friends and family about it.

I am seeking transcendence so once my psyche is in a new ever lasting robot body I'll pass the real body over. Likely to be as useful as a shit in a jacuzzi though.

if your dying and desperate for a heart why can't they choose to have mine if they need it?
they would need to know there are risks but wouldn't you rather take a punt on a good heart that will keep you alive or just die?

Completely agree mate, im sure theirs plenty of medical reasons why not but at the end of the day if your going to die im sure most would say yes

Im signed up, as far as im concerned, take the fucking lot if theirs anything worth taking when i have finished with it

If I want somebody to have something of mine then I would like to choose to give it to them, I don’t need the state or anybody else deciding for me or taking it from me.


Make the donation scheme easier and publicise it more, but don’t assume consent for what some may consider theft and a worrying precedent.

I am not on the register as i know that the body is completely stripped like a stolen Benz in a pikey's lockup. Providing the organs are in good condition, not only are your internal organs removed but, brain, bones, bone marrow, Skin , Eyes even face in some circumstances are also removed. Im not sure what that leaves, but thats all thats left of you.
If it was just the internal organs, then maybe, but i think its all or nothing when donating.

i really dont see the argument for "its my body" ill choose what to do with it... Your going to be dead... as in non existant, in the ground, feeding maggots.

"I don’t need the state or anybody else deciding for me or taking it from me." - yes that arguments works with your processions whilst you are in this world, your money, your tv, you car etc...

but any gift of life you you can give to help someone after you are gone, possibly even a child who is yet to live a full life is a big + in my book

Ok, thats definitely not something thats well advertised

im assuming they would only do that if you were totally screwed tho and had no chance of a real recovery?
surely you cant go in to have a checkup and leave without your kidneys?

Very emotive, but just think how many more people are dying from simple to cure things like starvation.

Most of us throw away enough in our bins to cure hunger in other countries.

I remember when I was a kid and not eating all my food my dad would say "children are starving in the world and would love the food you have etc" I only once said, "well why don't you send it to em then"

Now it s gone full cycle and I am saying the same to my kids. Sadly with kids there is always waste and it drives me absolutely batty. My biggest pet peeve is food waste.

I dont have kids but my mrs is terrible for wasting food, drives me up the wall
shes very into trying new things with food but if she doesnt like it then she will chuck it and start again
