Default New PSU needed. Any pointers.

Need a new PSU for one of the home rigs. I am looking for about 650ish watts give or take.
Only need a budget one for none essential PC, no monster GPU or anything like that just a number of HDD's, couple of PCIe cards etc.

Any advice on makes to avoid.

Seen a few at around the £40 mark but is that too cheap or have any of you had good experience with low end PSU's

Not looking to spend silly money on some silent corsair type thing as good as they are I just cant justify it on a little used PC.

The only person who think it is life threatening is the Mrs but she is never fucking on it.

Cheers and have a bloody good weekend :-)

look for at least a dual rail or even quad rail which is the ones to go for. they have their own "rails" that channel power to the different bits inside your pc.

I would recommend using a psu calculator to make sure you have enough power to run all your bits and bobs easily without making the psu work overtime

I've not looked at the spec but had good experience with Corsair, it's the power you asked for and same budget:

Not for long. EU regulations demand that from 1st July all PSU's must be single rail as more "green". I think this applies to manufacture so they will be around for a little while longer.

Maybe Brexit will pay off after all ;-)

I have the EVGA 600w in my rig. it runs cool all of the time and is very quiet. My pc stays on most of the time and you get from a 3y to 10 year warranty depending on which one you get

    Thanks guys. Info appreciated.

In the end I went for : CoolerMaster

I know Corsair & EVGA are good makes but I went for as it has a few more SATA & Molex power connectors than the others. I almost ordered the Corsair but saw a few saying it runs really hot and others saying the cables are too short and I really do need em long to reach a USB3 power connector that I remember the existing PSU struggled to reach.

    Thanks
