    Default Damaged furniture.......

So I ordered a unit for 100 from Fairpak Ltd....and paid through PayPal.

A few days later and the unit arrived......5 hours after the couriers expected eta. Courier was XPD express

I opened the box the next day and multiple panels were damaged. I contacted the seller via Facebook and this is the conversation...or lack of

As yiu can see the seller wants me to return the unit for inspection and if "it hasn't been damaged during assembly" then I'll get a refund

The company isn't run by the most reputable people I found out after a quick Google search....and I haven't a feeling they are going to turn round and say I damaged it during assembly. It's still in the box FFS!

If I send it back and he doesn't give me a refund I'm a unit down and 100 out of pocket.

Does anyone have any advice for me? Do I keep the unit and just try and repair it myself at additional cost.....

I'm inclined not to send it back as I think I'm about to be ripped off.

Take pictures of the dowel joint holes and screw holes and pictures of the dowels themselves to prove that the unit has not been assembled.

Open a PayPal dispute before you send it.

Pp might want to liaise in between, then if/when that fails, then request you to sent it back recorded.

If you send it before doing this, then PayPal tell you to return it in a couple of weeks time, then you might struggle to provide the correct proof of postage as you might have already sent it back in good faith.

The PayPal claim has already been opened. So if I arrange for it to be collected I should be ok?

As long as you have all the photos, send it back via tracked method etc you should be fine. PayPal are always favouring the buyer, presumably because they can do a chargeback so they'd be out of pocket.

The seller is going to arrange a collection.. ...no doubt via the same courier who probably damaged it. They do have a online tracking service which I can take regular screenshots of
