Following on from my other post about our cat being poisoned we are now going to buy a CCTV system for our garden.

Want to spend no more than 250 max. Only need one camera, The ability to record to a hard drive upon motion sensing and a good quality resolution

    Any recommendations?

If you only need one camera you could save a fortune by using a motion sensing Dash Cam.

You can get Full HD ones off the bay for £30.. Granted it doesn't go to HDD but goes to memory card.

Well one cam is the minimum .....a 2nd one would be useful for inside the house ....so a 2 cam package would be ideal

Surely you would have to run power cables even on a Wi-Fi system?

Yes you would and some dash cams come with moulded cigarette adaptors and others with a USB connector I would suggest going for the latter should you go down this route.

I'm sure I have some brand new cameras here from when I had to change a DVR and the local shop only had full kits in stock so I bought them and took the DVR out. I will check and can put them in the BST for you if I have them.

Alternatively, do you have a NAS/server? You could look at IP cams and a PoE injector so you only have to run a single ethernet to the camera and set it to record to the NAS/server share.

I have the Alro and its good. Although they are not meant to be run constantly. I arm them when I leave the house and disarm them as I return. Doing this I found the batteries to last about 8 months
Just use enough water to cover your vegetables, the same goes for when you're having a bath....

I'm after a powered solution. Having to take the things down to recharge them would just annoy me lol

I had a Securix system from Maplins which off memory was similar spec to the Swan system - 4 channel DVR with 2 external & 2 internal cameras but I then bought the matching cameras - possibly off evilsatan as I wanted 4 externals but never got round to fitting them. It's run perfectly for the last few years, pictures are fairly good although night vision as you'd expect is improved by having a security light also running, ios app works well.

Coincidently I took it all down at the weekend as have bought a new Hikvision system, more expensive but better quality cameras, however greater cost!

I bought these, they are POE and the picture is spot on.

The app is easy to use and the system is easy to set up install etc.

The new Hikvisions are POE cameras the DVR powers the cameras so only Ethernet type cable required, 2 camera system might just fit your budget.
other option is UNV camera system just had a 32 camera system fitted at work and the images are amazing with fantastic zoom too keeping images crisp.
