BBC News China fears North Korea-US conflict at any moment

China has warned that "conflict could break out at any moment" as tension over North Korea increases.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi said if war occurred there could be no winner.
Mr Wang's comments come as the US voices increasing concern at North Korea's development of nuclear weapons and deploys a Navy carrier group off the Korean peninsula.
China, North Korea's only backer, fears conflict could cause the regime to collapse and problems on its border.
Mr Wang said: "One has the feeling that a conflict could break out at any moment.
"I think that all relevant parties should be highly vigilant with regards to this situation."
"We call on all parties to refrain from provoking and threatening each other, whether in words or actions, and not let the situation get to an irreversible and unmanageable stage."
Adding to Chinese unease, President Donald Trump said on Thursday that "the problem of North Korea" would be "taken care of".
"If China decides to help, that would be great. If not, we will solve the problem without them! U.S.A."
The North Korean military responded on Friday by saying it would "mercilessly foil" any US provocation.
"Our toughest counteraction against the U.S. and its vassal forces will be taken in such a merciless manner as not to allow the aggressors to survive," read a statement from the army, reported in English by North Korea's official news agency, KCNA.
The US president has recently demonstrated his willingness to resort to military methods. He ordered a cruise missile attack on Syria in retaliation for a suspected chemical weapons attack, and the US military just used a huge bomb against so-called Islamic State in Afghanistan.
Washington is concerned North Korea might develop the ability to launch a nuclear weapon at the US.
Mr Trump and China's President Xi Jinping have been in contact by phone since their summit last week in Florida, and Reuters quotes US officials as saying tougher economic sanctions against North Korea are also being considered.

China is concerned any conflict could lead to a huge refugee problem on its border with North Korea. It also fears the collapse of the North Korean regime, which would remove a buffer between China and a country with US military bases, and has thus long been wary of pushing Pyongyang too hard.
But, in a sign of growing frustration with its neighbour, it recently blocked coal imports from the North. And Chinese state broadcaster CCTV reports that the government will suspend direct Air China flights between Beijing and Pyongyang from Monday 17 April.
There is also intense speculation that North Korea could carry out a sixth nuclear bomb test or another missile launch - possibly a long-range missile - on Saturday.
Saturday marks the 105th anniversary of the birth of its first leader, Kim Il-sung.
In an interview with the Associated Press, North Korea's Deputy Foreign Minister Han Song Ryol accused the Trump administration of "becoming more vicious and more aggressive" in its policy towards the North.
An institute linked to the North Korean foreign ministry also warned that "thermo-nuclear war may break out any moment".

This could be much more of a serious issue than the Syria/Russia scenario.....Scary that we know that both sides are crazy enough to press ze button. China are not terribly impressed by either side and it could easily come to pass that China come out as the biggest bully in the playground. A fact that the bully that is Trump probably wouldn't be able to handle. Welcome back to the 80's folks.

BBC News North Korea 'ready for nuclear attack' amid show of force

North Korea has warned the US not to take provocative action in the region, saying it is "ready to hit back with nuclear attacks".
The comments came as North Korea marked the 105th anniversary of the birth of its founding president, Kim Il-sung.
Soldiers, tanks and other military hardware were paraded in Pyongyang in a show of strength on Saturday.
It comes amid speculation that the current leader, Kim Jong-un, could order another nuclear test.
"We're prepared to respond to an all-out war with an all-out war," North Korean military official Choe Ryong-Hae said, adding: "We are ready to hit back with nuclear attacks of our own style against any nuclear attacks."
North Korea staged an extravagant display of military strength at Saturday's parade amid concern that mounting tensions in the region could lead to a conflict with the US.
Rows of military bands and columns of troops marched into Pyongyang's main Kim Il-sung square in the heart of the city.
On display for the first time were what appeared to be submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs), which could be developed to house nuclear warheads capable of reaching targets around the world.
With concerns that the state is getting closer to successfully producing a nuclear arsenal, Saturday's parade was an opportunity for Mr Kim to broadcast North Korea's current military capabilities.
The event made clear how vital the state's nuclear programme is to its future ambitions as it continues to ignore growing pressure from the US to abandon its nuclear weapons programme.
Tensions are high after the US military recently ordered a navy strike group to move towards the Korean peninsula.
North Korea has conducted five nuclear tests and a series of missile launches. Experts and government officials believe it is working to develop nuclear-warhead missiles that can reach the US.
On Friday, China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi warned that "conflict could break out at any moment", adding that if war occurred there could be no winner.
China, North Korea's only backer, fears conflict could cause the regime to collapse and problems on its border.

I can't quite believe that we live in a World where the President of the US is tweeting threats to a nuclear armed nation run by a paranoid lunatic. Trump could quite easily spark off something serious, the guy is a real fucking nut job. I always thought he was just bluffing, but he really is fucking crazy. For me, his unchecked narcissism and inability to display any kind of diplomacy is the biggest non-existential threat humanity has ever faced.

On a related note, its's amazing how the reality of a Trump presidency has influenced Hollywood too. If the writers at Homeland had walked through the doors with the current storyline before Trump, no one would have taken it seriously. But here we are, what a crazy fucking world we live in.

Who'd have thought war could be started by twitter ??

Why the fuck isn't his team of 'advisors' trying to limit damage or are they all too busy sucking his dick...
At least someone change his fucking twitter password.

At the moment I am sceptical of us getting past Monday without him dropping bombs on Korea.
