    Default AirPods

Just bought a pair of apple AirPods at £160...

Now, am I a mug? Doris indoors says yes...

I commute 1 hour on a train a day. Music is my life. I usually use a pair of Sony over ear, noise cancelling cans. They are the nuts. But... it's hot. Big cans on trains in heat means sweaty ears plus.

So last few days resorted back to standard apple wired earbuds. They ain't shit but wires piss me off, so AirPods?

    They rate well...

    right...

I'm surprised there haven't been some variations of them coming from China, I couldn't justify £100+ for any type of headphones.

    Fucking 6 weeks from apple.com.

there was the odd Argos store with stock tho. I am patient tho. Will have forgotten i ordered them by the time they arrive.

Being a DJ i have paid top dollar for cans for a while. I mix with senheisers, have done for 15-20 years. They are modular so can replace a can, the wire, muffs, etc.

my sonys were about £100 but got them from work as a gift. 2 years on and they still do a week without a charge.

Best earphones ever for my ears were sound magic pl11. Ridiculous bang per buck, sadly most for sale now are copies which is ironic since they are cheap Chinese buds in the first place

Two things that put me off airpods, firstly the fit which I presume are the same for the standard Apple earbuds means I don't get the air tight seal, so they keep slipping out of my lug hole. Secondly they're easier to lose or misplace, and if you lose one I don't even know if you can replace it. And finally I've seen a few donnys with them and they look a bit too posey for my liking. I have a pair of Bluetooth JBL earbuds that suit me much better and they're fantastic value. When I'm not listening, I just let them drape around my neck.

I got a pair when they came out and am very impressed with them apart from the price. Decent sound and very comfortable.

The new iOS 11 adds some new functionality: http://www.redmondpie.com/how-to-get...ure-in-ios-10/

I was intrigued enough to look into these, but since i have a shitty iPhone 7 I had to go for the Bluetooth version. Wow, the sound is pretty incredible for the price. I now get proper separation of the mid range and a nice punchy bass that isn't over powering. The only star I will knock off is the rather clunky battery back that needs to be clipped to clothing, but then again it does give it 12 hours of battery life.

They arrived. Picked them up last weekend since UPS are pretty shit at delivery...

Got to say they are bloody good. Slightly different fit to the wired standard pods, better maybe due to being a bit more weighted. Sound quality is way better than regular pods as well. The build quality as you would expect of the holder/charger and the earphones is superb. Still testing battery life.

I do think they are a tad overpriced but that's apple I guess.

Overall very happy with them. I did test out numerous other ear pods while waiting for these to arrive. And most were way worse. Beats branded just seem too annoying to me. Personal preference as always, but even wired beats IMO are overhyped.

My closed cup Sony Bluetooth cans are the best sound quality and NC. Senheisers are as industry standard to me as 1210's.

I don't like standard Apple earphones anyway, so I don't think I'd get on with AirPods.
I think that the big Beats style cans are more fashion than actual quality, I've tried them over years and don't like the their sound.
I always used to love Etymotic in-ears, had a couple of pairs over the years - their clarity was always amazing but very neutral meaning many complain about lack of bass.
Treated myself last year to a pair of Shure SE425's, and they blew my mind. They should at £225!
Ooh, ooh, ooh, the funky gibbon.

Yes I've heard Shures can be good but as high end can be pricey. AKG was also recommended for me which are more
    budget but good sound.

Neither brand I was able to test though.

With ear 'buds' there's lots of no-name companies with big comments. I just wouldn't trust them. A bit like mattresses I've noticed...

Still tempted by these. My best so far were Shure 310 and sound was phenomenal but they broke with use.
