Police have been called, neighbours aren't there until 5pm so I'm guarding the door with a baseball bat until they return (which I will hide when the police turn up as no doubt they won't take kindly to my sort of justice)

Yeah it was my doorbell.

It alerts my phone but I don't always check the motion detection as next door smoke a lot so they always trip it. Also my cat trips it by walking past. I only noticed at 12pm when I left my house. I saw the state the door was in and initially thought they'd had a barney and her boyfriend kicked it in. Checked the videos for the juicy argument and was disappointed when i found it was a crack head.

Update:
My neighbour came home at 4:30pm. I saw her on my doorbell and she was crying so I gave it 5 mins as I'm useless in situations like that lol. She was still crying when I went to talk to her and man it was awkward. The door was fucked so I had to shoulder barge it so she could check what was missing. Initial looks of it he only went through her bag and probably had some jewellery. TV, Xbox and the rest of the AV equipment is all still there. Her boyfriend turned up and luckily took this blubbering mess off my hands

Police have turned up, saw the footage and don't recognise him. They are calling in the CSI team (that's actually what he called them) to take fingerprints. I've emailed the videos on to the police.

I mentioned to her boyfriend maybe this wouldn't have happened if he chopped back the tree which obscures the view from the road when I asked about it 3 weeks ago (shared path). I love kicking a man when he's down

I bought it for deliveries whilst I was at work. Works great as I just tell them to dump it over my gate unless it's a signed for package then I'm fucked .

But yeah I bet a lot of thieves ring first and just pretend they are a door to door salesman if someone answers.
He rang the doorbell and gave it 3 minutes before forcing the door open.


Update:
CSI Thames Valley have been and weren't able to get any fingerprints. Only hope is the burglary squad know who he is as the normal copper didn't. Door was boarded up last night with a mdf sheet and a few padlocks until they buy a new one.

Next door have just knocked on my door and handed me a 12 pack of Budweiser. So I'm sitting in my garden with a beer about to cook some burgers on the barbie (planes are coming in from the other side today so it's nice a quiet), happy days.

Update:

The police just rang, they wanted my neighbour but I reported the crime so had my number on file. They are questioning someone tomorrow as the burglary crew knew who it was. I'm not too sure they can get a conviction out of the videos as it doesn't show him entering or leaving the house. It just places him at the scene acting very suspiciously.

Probably not but I would not expect them to disclose they had video footage and let him make a statement saying he wasn't in the area etc then use the false statement to back up their case against him.
