    Default Submitting a photo

My mum who lives abroad sent me some photo's a couple of weeks ago, and one of which is honestly incredible. I showed the picture to my family who all thought it was a professional photo and were shocked to find out that that the old dear had snapped it.

Where should i submit it for maybe some kind of competition/professional opinion ect.. ?

a professional opinion on a single photograph doesn't really happen, you can submit it to a hobbyist site like here on DF and you'll get a variety of opinions, some may be educated in photography, or just very experienced, others may just be enthusiasts. Many sites run competitions, but for the most part the decision comes down to votes by the general public, not someone with clout in the photography scene.

Why do you want it to be verified as being good? If you like it, listening to other peoples opinions shouldn't really effect that.

Regardless of how great it actually is, it probably aint gonna be funding an early retirement.

Sign up to talk photography, and post it in the critique section.

    Be prepared for 'critique' though

I been watching some of this [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] on Sky Arts and some of the photos you think brilliant and the experts throw them on the virtual cutting room floor.

If it is brilliant to you then that's all that matters.

In my experience, as an amateur photographer, I've seen over the years, photos which are technically perfect, visually stunning and perfectly timed, get absolutely slated. In the same day, I've seen photos that are out of focus, lack an actual focal point, appear washed out and dull get some kind of praise that would make you think it has "god like" status.

When I hear or read "My family think it was a professional photo", it immediately makes me pull the Patrick Steward hand on forehead pose because more often than not, the photo isn't great but more contains a "I can't believe they took that" element.

Now, I'm not saying the photo is bad or it's good.. because I haven't see in but I would very much like to see it so we can at least provide an opinion.
