    Default DJI Drone hacking

This is hitting the news. I'm sure the DJI people here already know about this but worth putting out there for others to see as I didn't know the advances people had made.

"Recently numerous underground groups of drone users have sprung up and are collaborating on removing restrictions from their drones and even change performance parameters. For example, a Facebook group for drone enthusiasts included hackers in its ranks. A Slack group
is even more active and seems to be where a lot of the actual effort is taking place, we're told."

Slightly off topic , but do you think it actually was a drone that closed Gatwick last week ?
makes no sense to me if you look in to it .

Yeah I've been keeping an eye on some of the conversations in Drone Flyers UK. It's pissing me off because it'll just result in so many restrictions and of course the general public and police going absolutely bonkers about drones.

As for so called drone at Gatwick, there are a lot of jokes going around about it being a plastic bag because there is NO evidence of a drone at all. Plus the amount of helium balloons, plastic bags, seagulls etc. on the Airprox reports is ridiculous... far more than drones although there are some reports of drones at around 5000 - 6000ft. Mindless twat nuggets spoiling it for those of us whom fly safely.

In the usual groups in my local area all the oldies are moaning like fuck at any drone footage that is posted.
Some of this stuff getting posted is stunning, they are breaking no rules/laws and still miserable cunts are out to moan and moan. It gets so boring.

If someone is taking the piss or breaking laws fair enough but it seems like an easy target for the professional moaners out there.

They call it "Birdstrike" in the industry. a bird will have a greater mass than a drone but if a drone got sucked into on of the engines which have a ludicrously high rpm it could rip off a few blades which could cause an accident. I think the risk is fairly low and I'd be interested to see the results of any actual tests they have done though...

I think the fear is a drone packed with some sort of explosives and in my opinion a reasonable possibility, I have little doubt there are plenty of dead brained morons flying drones near airports and also have little doubt there will be more and more restrictions introduced, it reminds me a bit of JetSki's which at one time were very popular but due to the wanker element more and more places banned their use so now very few people own them.

Yeah occasionally, a twatnugget posts something in Drone Flyers UK (Facebook) that is blatantly breaking the rules... i.e flying at well over the maximum allowed altitude, or over busy motorways, over peoples heads at parks etc. They get booted very quickly.

This article here, about an Israeli man being arrested for flying his drone within 90ft of commercial airliners is mostly down to members of Drone Flyers UK (A FB group I'm a member of). Many reported him to the authorities in Israel. Some people don't understand what the fuss is but 90 ft is absolutely nothing when it comes to two aircraft in the vicinity of each other, one potentially travelling at over 100mph (at the point in this video). Slightest mistake, strong sidewind or even a fly away of the drone could have been a major problem. Just fucks it up for the rest of us when shit like this happens.
