Default CryptoCurrencies and Digital Wallet storage. Bitcoin etc

Really couldn't think of which section to post this in. Doesn't really fit anywhere.

Anyway over the years I have dabbled in mining various different CryptoCurrencies and have used a TONNE of space on the PC due to this.
Basically every wallet must download the entire blockchain and this takes between 20 - 50gb +, so when like me you have 10 or more wallets you need a lot of fucking space.
Also not just the space issue, but I find too frequently the blockchains get corrupted and there is no fixing this. Delete the files and resync the entire blockchain from scratch which really pisses you off.

So online digital wallets the likes of freewallet.org would appear to be the solution. However I am paranoid as fook that these online wallets in theory could take your lot and there is nothing you could do.
Anyone got any experience of using one, can recommend one, horror stories etc

Any info or advice appreciated chaps.

I just transferred a few hundred (low value) coins into an online wallet to try it out and literally shit myself .

    Cheers

I'd be interested in this. Just started dabbling this week with Coinbase, only to find there's no way of actually withdrawing any of your money should you need to. Once you've deposited your money, you're at the mercy of Coinbase. You can't 'cash out' if you make a profit!

Check out Minergate.com. Might be similar but I successfully cashed everything out of it last night and its all sitting safely in my desktop wallets. They only take 1%-1.5% and they are very simple for starting off. Most of my withdrawals were in my wallets within 15 minutes.

    Thanks to piggzy

Just out of interest, what currency are people buying? I bought some Neo currency and some Ripple coins but after an initial increase in price they've settled down again. Is Neo still a good investment?

I bought some MCO coin last week for $10 per coin. Sold the other day for $17 - Re bought later that day at around $14.50.....This is now sitting at $20 and im tempted to cash back in again BUT I actually believe this coin WILL get to $30-$40 in the medium term.
I have bought some silly cheap sys coin too and it has moved in a big way this morning - Again im in at $0.12 and its sitting at $0.17 right now......This was just a £50 punt though so im leaving it lol see what happens.
The Wolf of polneix (twitter) is pretty good at giving out the odd scrap of a tip now and again twitter is great for the latest coin rumours ect. I very nearly bought some neo......but have not jumped on that yet.

    Thanks to DavidF

Been keeping my eye on Bytecoin . This is very, very low atm. For example I think £1.25 would bag you a thousand coins. More of a long term thing though.
Was keeping my eye on Monero too but waited to late, a month ago these were sweet fuck all but made a fairly decent jump. DOH!

Also playing with mining a bit, more as a hobby, don't expect to make money through it but it is a nice feeling when you grab a few coins here and there for nothing. I run on a couple of servers I have access to so no electricity costs.
There are a few newer currencies that are "ASIC resistant" to stop everyone with deep pockets and massive farming rigs from hammering all the coins then dumping em. It has pushed a lot of mining the new stuff back to CPU/GPU setups.

Ethereum is ASIC resistant and the newer UbiQ also a bunch of others.

    Thanks to piggzy
