iPhone X Face recognition Fail ;-)
In the comedy club as the iPhones are starting to be a joke ;-)
Is it just me or is having to look at it and then swipe up more hassle & inconvenience that the current fingerprint? Phone can be on the desk and it takes 1 finger to open it, don't need to pick it up etc
What about twins or triplets?

Just use enough water to cover your vegetables, the same goes for when you're having a bath....
A lot of phones have this now and it works, my windows phone works off the iris rather than the face which I guess Android do too. so is unique per twin etc.
1 security issue someone raised is if you were under duress for whatever reason, looking at your phone would still unlock it.
But the new iPhones are only just catching up with their competitors and still charging extortionate prices for that luxury, wireless charging, 12mp camera and face recog for £1000 really :-0

I completely missed this release, before I'd watch the keynote (even though I don't own any apple products) just to see what innovation has happened. In the past years the innovation is getting less and less with Samsung beating them to market on many occasions.
My initial thoughts:
No fingerprint scanner and relying on your face is a step back. FFS just put it on the back like a nexus 5x. They even have a sort of circular logo they could have used for this purpose. Also face scan unlock has been available on Android for years.
That cut out of the screen will make watching anything in landscape a bit shit.
OLED screens, really? This is nothing new if you've had a Samsung or Sony. In fact aren't they Samsung screens?
£1200 price tag - you can fuck right off.
Animated emojis - See my thoughts on the price tag.
Bezel-less screen - why can I see a bezel then?
Wireless charging - nothing new here, had this on my Nexus 4.
Apple used to be the benchmark for innovation now they are just playing catchup. I can't wait to hear about all the "new" features in the press for the next few weeks until release day.

Yeah exactly and the iPhone 7 release was all about how good the camera was yet the 8/10 has still gone for a 12MP woopsie my Nokia is 20MP and me older Nokia 1020 was 41MP.
Def been left in the other phone providers wake come on ffs wireless charging :-0 been around for years.
Apple have literally turned into the Call of Duty of phone still trying to milk the last of that cow from the die hard fans

Was looking at these thinking to go back to apple but not impressed at all.
Still have a Note7 - will be keeping that for a while longer I reckon.
Apple would be about to make themselves look like massive cunts with that ridiculous price and utterly boring specs/innovation......
but they wont because all the usual blinkered idiots will want to show them off like the Nike of the 80s.
Yawn
I haven't had an iPhone since the 4. I watched this keynote thinking at the end I'll be selling my Galaxy S8 and Modular 45 and going Apple.....
Will I fuck as like. WTF was that comment about they have been wanting to build this phone for years and then just show us stuff we have had for years.
What has happened to the innovation that Apple used to deliver?

Tbh is it just Apple? What innovation do you get, or can you really expect, from any of the phone companies? It's a phone FFS, what do you want it to do?
Nokia have just released the bothie on their phone which is where both cameras take a photo and it pairs the images together which for me is not useful but for others a great addition to the selfie.
This will be available on the iPhone XX limited edition only release date 2028 ;-)
Exactly, it's a phone. A phone that costs £1200 with nothing that we haven't seen before other than an Apple badge.
I'm commenting more on the fact that Apple aren't innovators anymore and other companies are bringing new things to the table much earlier than them. Their marketing dept. really is worth it's salt. How they can do a keynote with old tech, put a ridiculous price tag on it and still have fanbois cumming in their pants is a tribute to them.
I did see an interesting feature on the new Sony which I would find quite handy, a 3d scanning feature that can export as an obj file. The demo I saw it looked really quick and easy to use. Much easier than taking loads of photos and uploading them to Autodesk remake. That's the kind of innovation I expect, useful stuff unlike animated emojis which just goes to show what kind of demographic Apple are targeting.
I'm not backing them up, their pricing being accepted has always been a miracle by the PR & marketing team especially as the difference between storage capacity prices is obscene. Mind you the memory upgrades on a server at Dell etc are equally bad.
3d scanning sounds interesting but other than that from an innovation point haven't a lot of the useability functions come from the jailbreak/open source community, not the manufacturers. Apart from the original iphone which was a major design change haven't they always been behind in terms of tech, giving them something to add each year as a new feature rather than just a better camera and faster processor. How many years has wireless charging been touted as coming next year etc
I'm apple through and through. I have had almost every iPhone since the first, except the odd dabble in Android and I even transferred £1200 out of savings into my current account in case pre orders went live at the end of the keynote.
However....
I'm seriously unimpressed by the iPhone 8/8+ and honestly think there's nothing breakthrough in the iPhone X, not £1000+ worth anyway.
As a result I have now ordered a Samsung Galaxy S8+ to have a play with that.
