    Really good video, thanks.
It correct my previous quote of Elonex.... no it wasnt it was Escom and what proper cunts they were. Although Commodore/Amiga had many problems it was Escom that put the nail in the coffin it seems.
Very secretive about this technology that they had been developing which he claims would still be impressive tioday (hmmmm). I do remember leaks of an Amiga 9000 and rumours back in the day being ultra powerful etc and Escom didnt even look at the tech....

Had a bit of time last weekend, knocked up this flash floppy using a gotek, used bits I found in my bit box.
More importantly I didn't cut or damage the case , so can put it back to stock of the need ever comes up.
Had to order the gotek and the oled display, grand total of 16 pounds.
Got to buttons from an old xbox mother board, the pcb from some free samples I ordered ages ago, the pin header and ribbon can't remember.
The base is a bit of mdf machined to fit the slots.

It now plays adf files directly from the usb. You can put games in their own directory, such as monkey island 2, and use the two buttons to select the disc image.

The image didn't really do the display justice as it's scrolling across.

Not the prettiest of things but practical, next time I get a spare week end might give it a clean and retrobrite.
Lots of my repairs and pictures of retro stuff on my twitter.

    Excellent stuff.

Have a look for retro man cave on YouTube it's absolutely brilliant with some Amiga and CD32 repairs among the videos.

I may well have been remembering with Rose Tinted Spectacles but I was speaking to a mate a while back about the Amiga and I was saying how the games only took a couple of minutes to load and he was like "fuck off, it was more like 10 mins" ??

    Really ?

When you loaded IK+ US Gold* had programmed the disk drive to run at different speeds to play the star spangled banner.

    * I would have sworn this was the publisher but it could have been Activision.

I'm pretty sure there was music on most games when loading on the c64.

I remember a game I loved called 'Delta' would allow you to mix the music as it loaded the game.
