As I know you are a "power" user who will push his machine hard, and you have mentioned a lot of your usage will be work (with some play), I would suggest purchasing a proper workstation pc as opposed to a generic desktop/tower or build your own.

As examples of what I mean, look into the Dell Precision range or HP (I think their workstations are called Z series).

I know they cost more than a lot of comparable desktops, but they are built and evaluated for serious use.

Just as an example, I'm still running a top end Dell Precision that was made around 2010 and even though I know I have had a defective DIMM for over a year it still never crashes, and I get a lot less "random" crashes then I did with a normal/non workstation pc.

If you're keeping the CPU you may need to find a used mobo as I don't think shops will stock ivy bridge mobos still. Depending on your budget you might want to get a new system and sell your existing kit so you have a modern setup wth new parts rather than new.

If not then you will be limited by what's available used, there are Facebook selling groups dedicated to PC parts, not tried one but they seem to have decent stuff.

Yes as evilsatan says mobo will be an ebay job. Was looking for one brand new 3 days ago and gave up.
Well you can get brand new from aliexpress or wish but hmmmmmmm on the build quality. Might be ok but have resisted so far.

    what is your budget ??

you can build a very reliable machine yourself

depends what you want, the slight hassle of building yourself or the easiness of just ordering a complete system ready to go

Or if you're weird like me you prefer to build as it's enjoyable

My i5-2500k overclocked custom build still runs superbly, I've upgraded the SSD and GPU over the years, I don't game but it runs everything I throw at it fast.

    Thanks to evilsatan
