Default Star Wars The Last Jedi

If you haven't seen the film and intend to do not click on the spoiler. Just fucking don't.

    Spoiler:

Just got back from the film and I'm a little disappointed. Not with the story, although that isn't the best either, but with the monumental amounts of cheesy jokes they put in.

Double spoiler in case you're an idiot and didn't read the first line.

    Spoiler:

    The Good:
The bombing run. Really good action with poe flying around doing what he does best.
Benicio Del Toro - loved his character.
The attack on the battering ram cannon.
Laura Dern looking sexy at 50. Maybe it's beer googles but I'd still smash.

    The Bad:
Already mentioned the cheesy one liners.
No back story for Snoke. Who is this guy, we still know nothing about him really?
Porgs. They are cute but serve no purpose in the story so can only think they've been added to sell to kids at Christmas.
Rose, she's a cunt. Don't know why, I can't put my finger on it. At the end I smiled when she "died". I just didn't like her character, it probably wasn't the best casting.
The lack of Chewie for most the film. They had to force him into a joke scene with the porgs he got such little screen time. Admittedly it was quite funny and had the whole cinema roaring with laugher but that and the Falcon cockpit was all I remember him in.
Kylo Ren smashing his helmet I thought was a mistake. The helmet gives a sense of evil and someone to be feared, without it he doesn't really have that.

    The Ugly:
    The alien Monte Carlo bullshit.
A half dead Carrie fisher pretending to be mary fucking poppins. What the fuck was all that about!?

I really enjoyed The Force Awakens and Rogue One but this just left me out in the cold.

    2 Thanks given to beerman

Agree with most of your 'bad' points. All in all enjoyed it. 7/10 for me

I agree with what you're saying. I found this one VERY 'Disneyfied' and merchandise ready.
    Thin plot line and disappointing.
    An average 5/10 for me

Does this still really float peoples boats???

Don't think I have watched the last 2 or 3 movies. Episode 1 finished it for me. That cunt Ja Ja Binx was the nail in the coffin.

Like a lot of people on the forums, I grew up with Star Wars. I understand that Disney have to move on and introduce new elements and characters but don't throw the baby out with the bath water. I wasn't a massive fan of The Force Awakens but you tell Abrams had respect for the characters from the original trilogy. I'm not even sure Rian Johnson has seen the original trilogy. He had one of the most iconic characters in film history and absolutely wasted him. He made him in to Mr Miyagi.

Not seen it yet but hearing conflicting reviews. The press/media are saying its the best Star Wars movie ever, but now its released the public reviews are not so good. Emperors new clothes, springs to mind...

I loved the Last Jedi. I really liked the few new things they did.

Now I say this as, (what I would describe myself as), a mega-fan. So I really really really like Star Wars, but I'm just short of being a die-hard fan.

Now if I was a die-hard fan, then I reckon I would have disliked the film, because it moved away from a lot of the stuff that was established in the original trilogy. I reckon this distinction partly explains the conflicting reviews.

I also liked the prequels. (Please don't shoot )
