    Default Tablet for £50 ish....

Need a tablet to go offshore with so I can do some offline Internet courses. The only requirement is that is runs android as the course is done through an app on the play store.

They don't do the course on Windows due to piracy concerns which is fair enough...

    Any recommendations?

Would a kindle fire be any good mate?

I’ll have a look when I get home this afternoon as I’m sure we have one that no one uses

Lovely gesture mate. But I don't think it would get here in time. I had a look at the fires but they use a modified version of android and you can only access then amazon app store. There are ways to get the play store on them but only have 2 days before I go back to sea and don't have the time to do that.....

What about your local cash converter style shop and get a Samsung pad or something

It takes about 4 minutes start to finish to put the google play store on a kindle. (I did it a few weeks ago for my kids).

A sim card slot would have been great....however due to time constraints I've bought the lenovo pad 7. Seems like a basic little tablet and I'll prob end up keeping it. Didn't realise the android play store process was so quick and easy otherwise I would have got a fire tab... Doh!

You could install an Android emulator on you're windows machine, I've only ever used Bluestacks which is old so might be newer emulators about now.

    Cost £0

    Thanks to Rhinoz

Setup Android in a virtual machine. Cost = £0.

Then make a copy of the VM and start scratching your head thinking about why limiting the app to Android was a daft way of piracy prevention.

If you kinda want a tablet anyway - Amazon Fire 7 is £35 at the moment.
