Tech New monitor - £150 max

It’s Doris's birthday next month and she wants a new monitor. She’s been good this last year so I’ve upped her budget to £150.

Needs to have as good a screen and colour representation as she will be using for photoshop.

So far I like the look of the Asus VC239H and the Viewsonic VX2276. Anything else I should consider?

Needs to have VGA and HDMI input and speakers a bonus.

    Cheers

Possibly a used Dell U2715h or another in that range, I like Dell panels but they aren't cheap!

A good IPS monitor would be good for what you want and in the price range,
its only 5ms but as long as she isnt a gamer it would be fine, my daughter got this one, she messes with photoshop a little & over the moon with it

    Key features

    • Full HD, IPS panel
    • 75Hz and FreeSync
    • DVI, HDMI and VGA inputs
    • Review price: £130

The LG 23MP68VQ is our new top pick for a sub-£150 monitor. With a 23-inch Full HD, IPS panel, a stylish design and a smooth 75Hz refresh rate, it ticks all the boxes for a budget monitor. It even manages a few surprises, including FreeSync support and an easy-to-use onscreen menu. You get excellent contrast levels, decent colour coverage and excellent viewing angles as well.
It’s not perfect; it won’t deliver spectacular colour accuracy and is slightly wobbly on its stand, but at this price it’s hard to find anything better. With only one HDMI port, multi-device setups might be a little difficult to set up, but there is at least a VGA and DVI port as well.
For the money, there’s nothing better than the LG23MP68VQ.

Looking around more online and I beleive for PS work, a sRGB &age of over 90% is preferable.

This Dell is over 100% - [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] but not IPS, cheaper TN screen.

Or in reality a decent IPS screen like the LG above will be just fine?

    Thoughts?

Did you pick a monitor DJ OD?

I've gone and ordered the Dell one you linked (£120 on Amazon) but have concerns about the stand. I've had a great experience with Dell monitors in the past, including the one I have now but part of that experience comes from the good quality and adjustable stand.

Not yet. Still trying to decide between the two in my OP and the LG one Mickey posted.

Wasnt keen on that particular Dell one due to being a TN screen. Other Dells were pricey IMO.

I got a cheapo nobrand IPS screen (the name KOIOS was stuck on the front but it came off when I peeled off the protective film) about 5 years ago for around 250

Its based around the apple cinema screens which are LG I believe and to be honest, i'd buy the exact same screen again today, the colour when using photoshop is awesome, along with the 27" 1440p resolution. I forget the other specs but there were posts talking about overlclocking these screens for 120hz (for gaming) so I guess its good for that too, although I have only played a couple of games and I dont have FPS OCD.

The only thing I'd consider instead would be a 4K IPS.

Treat Doris to a big one, the initial shock may be 'it's too big', but she'll get used to it quickly and it soon becomes the norm.
