Film YouTube HQ Shooter Dead, 4 Reportedly Wounded

The person responsible for the shooting at YouTube HQ in California has reportedly died. The woman, who has yet to be identified by authorities, reportedly died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. While no other deaths have been reported as a result of the shooting in San Bruno, California, at least four were wounded during the shooting and have been taken to nearby hospitals.
San Francisco General Hospital reported that it has received three patients. Hospital spokesman Brent Andrew says a 36-year-old man is in critical condition, a 32-year-old woman is in serious condition and a 27-year-old woman is in fair condition. He adds the hospital is expecting more patients but doesn't know their conditions. The Associated Press revealed that local police found the woman believed to be the shooter dead at the scene.
"BREAKING: Police say woman believed to be shooter at YouTube headquarters is dead of self-inflicted gunshot; 4 wounded."
San Bruno Police Chief Ed Barberini told reporters that authorities found one victim with a gunshot wound toward the front of the business when they arrived. Several minutes later, they found the female shooter, before later finding two more victims in an adjacent business. At the time of this writing, the identities of those injured in the shooting have yet to be revealed. Google, who owns YouTube, has their security team working to evacuate the buildings at YouTube HQ, which has 1,700 employees. The company advised employees and others to stay away from the area and that it's set up a helpline for workers.
News of the shooting first broke this afternoon when the San Bruno Police took to Twitter to warn of an active shooter in the area, telling people to stay away. Google then confirmed the news on Twitter as well, saying they are working with local authorities and would update on the situation as information was made available. Several YouTube employees took to social media to share their accounts of the incident from the site. Several others posted photos of people exiting YouTube's buildings with their hands above their heads. President Trump took to Twitter to send his thoughts and prayers to those involved.
"Was just briefed on the shooting at YouTube's HQ in San Bruno, California. Our thoughts and prayers are with everybody involved. Thank you to our phenomenal Law Enforcement Officers and First Responders that are currently on the scene."
YouTube has become one of the most powerful forces in the modern entertainment landscape, after launching in 2005 and being purchased by Google in 2006. The company has been producing their own content as of late, including shows like the upcoming Karate Kid sequel, Cobra Kai, as well as original movies. We will be sure to keep you up to date as more information on the story is made available. This news comes to us courtesy of The Associated Press.

Film Shooter Opens Fire at Youtube Offices in California

Police have responded to an active shooter at YouTube HQ in California. San Bruno Police, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Department and other law enforcement agencies are on the scene at the site's headquarters in San Bruno. Several of the company's employees have taken to social media to update on the situation. The San Bruno Police warned those in the area to stay away in a post to their Twitter account earlier this afternoon.
"We are responding to an active shooter. Please stay away from Cherry Ave & Bay Hill Drive."
San Francisco General Hospital has reported that it is receiving "multiple patients" from the site of the shooting at the 200,000-square-foot facility where 1,700 people are employed. Stanford University Medical Center has also reported to Fox News that it has received "four to five" patients from the site of the incident. Neither hospital gave any details on the condition of their patients, nor did they confirm the nature of the injuries those patients have sustained. Google, which owns YouTube, responded to the situation on Twitter, saying that they're working with authorities.
"Re: YouTube situation, we are coordinating with authorities and will provide official information here from Google and YouTube as it becomes available."
Vadim Lavrusik, who works for YouTube, was present on the scene and took to Twitter saying, "Active shooter at YouTube HQ. Heard shots and saw people running while at my desk. Now barricaded inside a room with coworkers. Safe. Got evacuated it. Outside now." According to local KRON4, a woman shot her boyfriend, but that has yet to be confirmed by authorities on site. City Manager Connie Jackson has received multiple 911 calls from YouTube reporting a shooting. Another witness told CNN she saw one person shot on the patio where they eat.
In a thread on Twitter, YouTube product manager Todd Sherman relayed his account of the situation. At the end of the thread, he revealed that he was in an Uber and on his way home safe, but not before revealing he saw blood on the floor and stairs. Here's what he had to say.
"We were sitting in a meeting and then we heard people running because it was rumbling the floor. First thought was earthquake. After existing the room we still didn't know what was going on but more people were running. Seemed serious and not like a drill. We headed towards the exit and then saw more people and someone said that there was a person with a gun. Shit. At that point every new person I saw was a potential shooter. Someone else said that the person shot out the back doors and then shot themselves. I looked down and saw blood drips on the floor and stairs. Peaked around for threats and then we headed downstairs and out the front. Police cruisers pull up, hopped out with rifles ready and I told them where the situation was as I headed down the street to meet up with a couple team members."
Employees of YouTube could be seen exiting the building with their hands above their heads. At the time of this writing, authorities have not revealed any details on the possible shooter. BBC News YouTube shooting: Female suspect 'angry over video postings'

Media playback is unsupported on your device

The suspect in a gun attack at YouTube's HQ in California had expressed anger over its treatment of her video postings, media reports say.
Police have named Nasim Aghdam, 39, as the suspect but say they are still investigating a motive.
US media say Aghdam was angry that YouTube was filtering her videos and reducing the money she could make.
Tuesday's attack left a man and two women injured with gunshot wounds. The attacker shot herself dead.
Police in San Bruno, California, say there is no evidence yet that the attacker knew the victims, a 36-year-old man said to be in a critical condition, and two women aged 32 and 27.

What do we know of the suspect?

Nasim Aghdam lived in San Diego in California.
Police have revealed few details about her but US media said she ran a channel and a website, posting videos on a variety of subjects including those highlighting animal cruelty.
She has been variously described as a vegan bodybuilder, artist and rapper.
Her channel, Nasime Wonder1, which has now been deleted, had about 5,000 subscribers, but her videos were posted across multiple channels.
In January 2017 she posted a video complaining that YouTube was filtering her content, leading to fewer views.
On her website she also ranted against YouTube, saying: "Videos of targeted users are filtered and merely relegated, so that people can hardly see their videos."
She also quotes Adolf Hitler, saying: "Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it."
She also wrote: "There is no equal growth opportunity on YouTube or any other video sharing site. Your channel will grow if they want [it] to!"
Aghdam's father, Ismail, told local US media she was angry because YouTube had stopped paying her for videos.
Video posters can receive money from linked advertisements but the company can "de-monetise" channels for various reasons, taking adverts off. It is unclear if this happened with Aghdam's material.
Her father said Aghdam had been reported missing on Monday after not answering calls for two days. Police later found her sleeping in her car in Mountain View, 25km (15 miles) south of YouTube offices in San Bruno and reported this to her family.
Her father told police she might go to YouTube as she "hated the company", local media said.
YouTube terminated her account following the shooting. Her Instagram and Facebook accounts have also been removed.
    What happened in the attack?

The suspect is reported to have approached an outdoor patio and dining area at the offices in San Bruno, near San Francisco, at about lunchtime on Tuesday and opened fire with a handgun.
San Bruno Police Chief Ed Barberini said officers arrived at the offices at 12:48 (19:48 GMT) local time to find a "chaotic scene", with numerous people fleeing.
Images broadcast on local TV stations showed employees leaving with their hands raised. Other footage showed evacuees forming a queue before being individually frisked by police.
Police said officers had "encountered one victim with an apparent gunshot wound at the site and two additional gunshot victims that had fled to a neighbouring business".
Inside the complex, officers then found a woman dead from a gunshot wound that was believed to be self-inflicted.
An employee at a nearby fast food restaurant told Fox station KTVU he had treated a young woman who suffered a bullet wound to the leg.
He said he had fashioned a makeshift tourniquet from a bungee cord as they waited for first responders.
Several YouTube employees tweeted about the attack as it was taking place.
Product manager Todd Sherman said people fled the building in panic as the shooting unfolded.
Another employee, Vadim Lavrusik, tweeted he was barricaded in a room with other staff. He later said he had been evacuated.

The three wounded were taken to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. Officials said the 32-year-old woman's condition was serious and the 27-year-old's condition was fair.
A fourth person was also taken to hospital with an ankle injury sustained while trying to escape, Mr Barberini said.
Some 1,700 people work at the YouTube HQ. The company is owned by Google and is the area's biggest employer.
There had been earlier media reports that the man shot was Aghdam's boyfriend, but police later said; "At this time there is no evidence that the shooter knew the victims of this shooting or that individuals were specifically targeted."
Such "active shooter" incidents are overwhelmingly carried out by men - an FBI report found that out of 160 incidents between 2000-2013, only six of the people who opened fire were women.
    What's the reaction been?

YouTube spokesman Chris Dale praised the police response to the incident.
"Today it feels like the entire community of YouTube and all of the employees were victims of this crime. Our hearts go out to those who suffered in this particular attack," he said.
Another online giant, Twitter, said it was horrified by the shooting and said it was monitoring instances of misinformation.
